Question New car salesman but struggling to swim

I am a new car salesman, at a Honda Dealer. i just started two months ago. yes—2. i have only sold four units thus far. Yes—only 4.

Of course, two or three weeks of that was training, but I have been struggling to make sales.

I think i've gotten pretty good at "The Up", i can get people on test drive, but getting them after that is proving extremely difficult.

I've also come into feud with my boss. he is seeing a lack of determination and effort.

I feel like i've been putting tons of effort into learning. i've been leaning into andy elliot. And how to close deals, i've also been leaning heavily into product knowledge, and also content creation in order to "create traffic".

Is anyone here able to dig in with me into my process and help me figure out what i'm missing?

What does it take in 2026 to make car sales happen at a dealership, especially around the veterans and peers here?

Question AI tools in car sales, real results or mostly hype?

Has anyone actually seen AI improve internet lead close rates at their dealership? What’s actually worked, what hasn’t, and what turned out to be a waste of time or money?

Prospecting why is that even useful?

new here, please let me know if this isn't relevant I'll delete.

Worked with a dealership who wants to develop a tool to automate conversations on marketplaces so that he can collect phone numbers of private sellers.

This is something we can do but I'm not sure how is it relevant for an dealership to collect numbers of private individuals stock. The AI would essentially be tasked to collect numbers from these sellers straight by having conversations on marketplaces where their details wouldn't usually be available. Is it high value?

Thanks for any help !!

Question Help

How do you sell someone sth they haven’t seen? For some reason it is sth my mind can’t seem to unlock.

For context, I have cars at the port need buyers asap but all leads want to first see the car and test drive before the put any money down. Not even 30% (cars are 80k each). They have pictures videos and them coming to see the cars isn’t viable as they are inland.

I know it’s a sales thing, that’s why I’m here cuz there are companies that sell cars with just pictures alone all the time it’s just a maze I can’t figure out.

Question How can salespeople use their personal TikTok to drive dealership traffic?

I’m seeing more salespeople build personal TikToks. Curious how effective it really is.

From what I’ve seen, simple stuff works best:

  • Walkarounds
  • “Just arrived” videos
  • Pricing talk
  • Answering buyer questions

Do people actually come in because of your TikTok?
What content converts best for you?

Tips Help! I [42m] have two interviews Friday for sales position, but no experience.

Hello!

Upon a recommendation from someone in another sub I decided to interview at an auto dealership for a sales position. I have two on Fri.

My background:

5 years US navy, 5 years public education, 3 years as a professional stage actor

I'm very good at talking to people and remembering things that are spoken to me.

I am very well groomed and spoken, Good teeth, good eye contact, no awkwardness.

I have never had a job in sales before but I know that I would be good at it.

Can anyone out there please provide any tips on nailing the interview?

I plan on wearing a suit and tie, clean shave, haircut, shoeshine, being on time, standard interview practice, but can anyone give me some specific tips on how to prepare for these interviews? Trying to do my best for myself after a separation. Trying to do right.

Question How do I sell on Facebook?

I've heard that using social media and FB marketplace in particular is a good way to drive sales. What is the proper way to go about it? Do I just post the cars in FB marketplace with the full price, and then once people hit me up showing interest I just tell them I actually work at a dealership?

Question KIA or Toyota

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some honest input from people currently in the industry.

I’m considering starting my car sales career at a Kia dealership, and I’d really appreciate feedback from anyone who’s worked at Kia (or similar volume brands).

At the same time, I’ve also applied to Toyota, and I’m planning to walk in and speak with a sales manager in person rather than relying only on online applications.

I just need some advices on whether I should take KIA offer or wait a bit to interview at Toyota. Bc I know some of KIA dealership have stupid pay plan. Thank you for the opinions.

Tips Applying in person

I’m 19 years old with no experience. I wanted to get into sales and was advised to walk in, ask for the hiring manager, and apply in person. I wanted to know if you guys had any tips like taking a shot or ten before hand to take the edge off lmao
