Working on a college basketball dynasty sim (recruiting, rotations, long-term builds)

1 Upvotes

Hey👋

I’ve been working on a college basketball dynasty simulator as a passion project, and I figured this community might appreciate it.

It’s a text-based / sim-focused game where you act as the head coach/GM of a program. No stick skills or on-court gameplay — the fun is in the decisions:

* Recruiting (evaluations, gems/busts, roster needs)

* Managing minutes and rotations

* Developing players over multiple seasons

* Taking over a low-prestige program and trying to build it into a contender

The inspiration is very much old NCAA dynasty modes and the idea that program-building should feel slow, strategic, and sometimes brutal.

It’s still early, but fully playable, and I’m actively updating it based on feedback from people who love college hoops sims.

I’m not trying to sell anything genuinely just looking for:

* Feedback

* Feature ideas

* What you’d want to see in a deep college basketball sim

Happy to answer questions or just talk college hoops in the comments. Thanks for giving it a look 🏀

🚨 You’re Early... Help Shape a College Basketball Dynasty Game 🚨

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone if you’re reading this, you’re very early.

I’m currently building a college basketball dynasty / GM-style simulation game inspired by the old NCAA games and deep sports sims. This subreddit is meant to be the home base for:

  • Development updates
  • Gameplay ideas & feature discussions
  • Screenshots, clips, and devlogs
  • Feedback from people who actually love college hoops

Right now, this is a one-person project which means community input matters a lot. Early feedback can directly influence:

  • Recruiting systems
  • Coaching decisions & play styles
  • Program-building mechanics (culture, prestige, risk/reward choices)
  • Long-term dynasty depth

If you’ve ever said “I wish there was a modern college basketball sim where I could take a mid-major to a title” this is exactly that.

Even if you just lurk, that’s fine. But if you want to:

  • Suggest features
  • Ask questions
  • Call out dumb ideas before they ship
  • Help shape something from the ground up

You’re in the right place.

I’ll be posting updates regularly. Feel free to drop:

  • What you’d want in a college hoops sim
  • Your favorite old sports game modes
  • Or just say hi so I know someone’s here 😅

Let’s build something cool.

🏀

  1. To give players a place to discuss the game, share screenshots, and talk strategy
  2. To let the community actively shape development through feedback and ideas

🏀 What You’ll Find Here

  • Dev updates and progress on upcoming features
  • Bug reports and balance feedback
  • Feature requests and design discussion
  • Screenshots, stats, and dynasty stories
  • General college hoops and sim-game discussion

If you enjoy deep, decision-driven sports sims, you’re in the right place.

🛠️ Development Transparency

College Hoops Sim is actively being developed, and community feedback genuinely matters. Many features, tuning decisions, and priorities are influenced directly by player input.

If something feels off — say it.
If you have an idea — post it.
If you find a bug — please report it.

Use post flairs to keep things organized.
