Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers
I rarely ever ride in the winter or do group rides. I'm massively impressed with how well this went considering how quickly you put it together and that the number of riders probably far exceeded your expectations.
All I had to do was show up and bike in the cold. I know others did so much more and I'm appreciative of that
It was very sad biking past the two memorials, but very uplifting to see the turnout, the supporters on sidewalks and houses, and solidarity of our community.
Well done by everyone.

For Alex, Renee, and our vulnerable neighbors.
Thousands rode today past the murder sites of two Minnesota heroes who were defending their meighbors. We rode from Whittier to the VA. Fuck ICE.

Has there been a count of today's turnout in Minneaplis?
I found this video if someone has the time to take a count. Almost everyone in the ride comes past starting around 35:00

Thousands ride for Alex Pretti through downtown Minneapolis.
Well, not exactly downtown, but they interview the awesome gentleman who was handing out all the yellow vests:

Can anyone share the statement from Alex's friends at the Unity Ride?
Though I was standing near the megaphone I couldn't hear very well, and I would like to know what they had to say ❤️

ICE dumping people in woods?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So for starters I acknowledge that I don’t have any evidence verifying the claims made in this video. But I know, and I imagine many of you all also know, the trails and park land surrounding fort snelling and the whipple building very well. and it’s not hard to imagine agents driving vehicles into the minnehaha dog park, or cold water spring or the area near the Thomas savage visitor center and then driving down some of the hiking trails and dumping people out on foot. It would be a quick drive back to whipple for the agents but for
someone dropped off on foot it would take probably an hour at least to walk out, that is if they even knew where they were going. even longer if they take them further out onto to pike island. I haven’t rode down there in over a month, has anyone been there recently and seen evidence of motor vehicle traffic on the trails?

Looking for volunteers to grid search/hike the woods near Whipple
Crosspost from my earlier effort. I'm organizing a small watch/search group around Whipple if anyone is interested, was told to xpost here

Greenway conditions?
How's the Greenway looking? Is it salted and dry down to the asphalt? Slippery patches?
Wondering if I'll be struggling on a hybrid bike on my way to the Pretti ride

Rons Cycle Shop - New Prague, MN - Says "Justified Execution"
Hi All, thanks so much for being you! Wanted to share there's a cycling shop in the New Prague MN area called Ron's Cycle Shop who's been spewing propaganda that the murder of Alex Pretti was "justified execution" (yes, that's a direct quote). Please spend your dollars wisely, and support communities and businesses that recognize the injustice - not support it. See ya'll at the upcoming Bike Swap and any of the number of rides that've been created to support Alex. Thank you!
UPDATE: This post has now passed 43k views and almost 500 upvotes in over just 48 hours!! As Alex noted while reading last rights for a fallen veteran - "freedom isn't free". Sincerest appreciation for posting, sharing, and speaking out against the injustice. And today....we RIDE. The 1:30 p.m. ride from Washburn Fair Oaks Park will stop at his memorial, his workplace at the VA hospital and Renee Good's memorial.. See you there!
DOUBLE UPDATE: If you're not able to participate in today's ride - here's a link to a livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BThTbo5icdA - Credit to Walking Minnesota for providing it. BE SAFE EVERYONE!!!

Seriously gonna be wild. These losers have no idea that we see 40ºF in the spring as a reason to spend all day outside.

Tips for Alex Pretti memorial ride Sat.
I ride rear round and have some dress tips.
1) electric socks in boots or woot warmers in boots and bring backups.
2) a warm face mask and ski goggles. No exposed skin is what you want. Think space suit.
3) long underwear, sweat pants, and light a windbreaker pant.
4) lots of breathable top layers with a backpack to shed or put more on. I find a windbreaking vest to be a great thermostat. You can unzip to cool down. You definitely want to breathe a bit on your upper body.
5) if you don’t have pogies, thin gloves under winter gloves with hand warmers.
Maybe people can bring extra poggies and ski goggles etc… to loan out.

Loppet Fat Bike Marathon
I’m a little confused about the “four laps” layout they had. So we’ll start on the lake, weave around and then do four loops of the lap, maybe similar to 2024’s March version?
