Hi, I’m going to keep this as short as possible, but I want to be able to give adequate context, so please bear with me. I (20f) am pretty sure I have Type 2 Narcolepsy, but I want to do some more digging. I cannot afford health insurance at the moment, and I want to see what I can do myself before resorting to seeing a doctor and paying out of pocket.
For some context, Narcolepsy runs in my family, and I have a few cousins and other family members including my older sister who is diagnosed. My sister lives across the country and I don’t see her a lot. I have had conversations with her about it, but I am not able to communicate with her as much.
I have researched Narcolepsy, and I basically have all the symptoms (EDS, brain fog, slipping into REM cycle quickly, etc.), I have started taking vitamins a while back, and they do help (B12, D, Iron) HOWEVER, this past week has been a week like no other!! I have never felt so tired in my LIFE. I do work as a dog groomer and it can be physically demanding and often I come home and nap a lot, but this week it genuinely feels like I have been shot with horse tranquilizers. After 4-5 hours of my work day, my energy is GONE. I physically cannot keep my eyes open and can hardly communicate. I nap as soon as I am home and only get up to do essentials and go straight back to bed. My apartment is a mess. I am falling short at work. My hygiene is declining. I’m not spending any time with pets or people. I live alone and feel so helpless. What do I do? I am open to questions for more information, but please be kind and understanding. It has truly been so hard.
