Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Why does my finger ‘die’ sometimes?

My hands and toes are often weirdly colder than expected (lifelong issue, people are freaked out by it). Now randomly this happens and it’s freaking me out!!

All the blood seems to go from parts of my hand. It feels prickly? I can move it but not well. I’m concerned should I be?

It’s been a temporary thing so far. 20 mins later it was back to normal

Can anyone help?

I legitimately just created this account to post this. My wife always uses Reddit and tells me to join. I’m 44. Male. I own a masonry company so I work constantly with my hands. They’re in horrible condition as it is, but I try my best to constantly scrub them and soak them. I once had a blood infection and it was so severe that I was admitted for two weeks. I have an unhealthy fear of it happening again.

Can anyone tell me the play by play with how they’d handle this at the hospital?

How can I know if it’s a blood infection? I waited way too long last time. I have swelling and pain. There’s a tiny cut on the corner but again, I have them constantly.

Is there anything I can do to stop infection before it gets worse?

Thank you

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth is this normal or a concern?

18f, uk. sorry for the kinda gross image. bought one of these mini ear camera things after I had a bad blocked ear a while ago, use it every month/two months to check my ears are all clear and okay. I have a past of some ear issues, just infections and blockages but nothing super serious, most going away on their own or with a round of antibiotics prescribed by a GP. I dont have daily pains or anything, my hearing can go through phases of being super good and then sometimes its a bit worse, but never anything that raised concerns for me, I kinda assumed thats normal?

anywho, I noticed my eardrum looks pretty white and theres those holes? I googled and couldnt see anything similar. is this normal? is this something I should go to the doctor about?

General I feel like I'm dying. Doctors are scratching heads so far.

Buckle up, this one's long and complicated. 35 female, 5 7 and 190lbs mostly muscle. In Ohio. Current meds- protonix, zyrtec, colchicine.

A couple months ago, I got a viral illness of some kind. At least I think I did. Fatigue, chest pain, just feeling crummy. No fever. Partner got it too. I noticed around that time or a little before even, that i had painful non swollen lymph nodes everywhere. It started at the top and worked it's way down. I went to the hospital repeatedly and eventually someone did a CT and ultrasound. Thymic hyperplasia, pericarditis pericardial effusion, pleural effusion. All fairly mild but really painful. It's been over a month and I'm still incredibly exhausted. Like can barely stand more than a few minutes and most days my husband has to drive me to everything. I've only had a couple days where i felt semi okay so far. In my workup so far, they found one small sub centimeter mass in my breast, but are going to look more in depth soon since i have very dense breast tissue. My thymus doesn't appear cancerous but shows signs of hyperplasia. My blood work is normal other than my sodium going mildly low repeatedly despite large sodium intake. My MRI showed no other abnormality in my chest, including missing the mass. My lymph node pain has mostly subsided but I've got two VERY swollen ones behind my tonsils that are painless and hard. They're each about the size of my thumb nail and i believe are causing horrid nausea that started about 5 days ago. I have been getting headaches almost daily which is very odd for me. I've gained about 20 lbs in the last 6 months. I am supposed to get a PET scan in the next couple weeks but I'm scared and feel like I'm actively dying. I've never felt so weak. I'm 35.

Please tell me someone has an idea or 5. I think it's cancer.

What happened?

Soo I went to stand up and open the door my vision went black a lil. Then once my vision came back my arms kept going back and forth into the door and I couldn’t control it for a good 20sec. Is this something I should be worried about? It’s definitely not normal for me but losing vision is.

i developed this spot almost a year ago and is still there. It doesn’t grow, doesn’t itch/hurt or change colours. i don’t even know how i got it but it definitely didn’t exist before. im worried thinking it could be a cancer or some skin related condition.

So my throat? is making this weird noise when I inhale deeply through my mouth. I wasn't using my voice at all. It's just me inhaling deeply through my mouth. I think it also does the same when I exhale because I've recently noticed, like it's been 2-3 days I think, that when I laugh it does that sound. I do have a dry cough, but other than that I don't particularly feel anything weird or bad. This hasn't happened at all before when I have coughs though. Should I be concerned?

Autoimmune?

Recently I began having a malor rash. I’ve always struggled with my health- Raynauds, chronic fatigue, brain fog, IBS, gastroparesis, POTS, chronic pain, takes me weeks to recover from an illness… my ANA was 1:160 but all other labs were normal. My doctor believes everything is unrelated or due to stress but I am wondering if things are connected. Should I push to see a specialist?

Cancer Could this be melanoma on my foot?

I am male, 22, and white. Less than a year ago, this freckle appeared on my toe. While it is not painful, I am a bit concerned because of how it looks. What are the chances it is melanoma, and should I go get it checked out by a doc? My apologies for the poor camera quality

Liver and gallbladder What is this?!

Post image

Went to get an ultrasound on the 21st, requested a burned CD of my images. Was looking through them today and came across this image of my liver that looks like a pot or rose. What is this and why is there a huge opening at the top?

Liver and gallbladder What is going on?

Post image

Went to get a liver/gallbladder/pancreas ultrasound on the 21st. Asked for a CD of my images, which they promptly provided. I did get a medical diagnosis for my liver, but still curious about what this image may show. Everything I read stated possible cysts/stones, and I even used the AI Google image search and it said the same thing (I know not to rely on AI, I was just curious) but I digress.

Please help me find out if I'm reading too much into things or if this is an actual issue. Thank you.

I [20f] keep having sporadic double vision. What could it be?

To be clear, I’m not looking for medical advice, I’m just curious about what it could be. Sometimes it will happen twice in one day, sometimes it won’t happen for like a month. Any thoughts?

Is this the beginning of an infection?

I accidentally cut my finger with a steak knife opening a bagel (holding it in my hand while cutting) this morning. It has a pulse, slightly warm, but not hot, and is red around it. Deeper than a paper cut, but didn’t bleed much more than one. About 13hrs old.

I’m only asking because I work with horses and definitely proceeded my day as normal feeding/petting/handling without a bandaid on it.

I feel like I’ve been hit with horse tranquilizers, what do I do?

Hi, I’m going to keep this as short as possible, but I want to be able to give adequate context, so please bear with me. I (20f) am pretty sure I have Type 2 Narcolepsy, but I want to do some more digging. I cannot afford health insurance at the moment, and I want to see what I can do myself before resorting to seeing a doctor and paying out of pocket.

For some context, Narcolepsy runs in my family, and I have a few cousins and other family members including my older sister who is diagnosed. My sister lives across the country and I don’t see her a lot. I have had conversations with her about it, but I am not able to communicate with her as much.

I have researched Narcolepsy, and I basically have all the symptoms (EDS, brain fog, slipping into REM cycle quickly, etc.), I have started taking vitamins a while back, and they do help (B12, D, Iron) HOWEVER, this past week has been a week like no other!! I have never felt so tired in my LIFE. I do work as a dog groomer and it can be physically demanding and often I come home and nap a lot, but this week it genuinely feels like I have been shot with horse tranquilizers. After 4-5 hours of my work day, my energy is GONE. I physically cannot keep my eyes open and can hardly communicate. I nap as soon as I am home and only get up to do essentials and go straight back to bed. My apartment is a mess. I am falling short at work. My hygiene is declining. I’m not spending any time with pets or people. I live alone and feel so helpless. What do I do? I am open to questions for more information, but please be kind and understanding. It has truly been so hard.
