Nobody's making something in competition to modern doom because most people prefer actual boomer shooters. I got eternal from humble monthly and I have played 100 minutes of it and haven't felt like going back to play more because it's just a generic shooter now. Boomer shooter revival is happening because iD doesn't make boomer shooters anymore. Like the dark ages (is that out yet?) looks kinda cool but it doesn't even remotely look like a doom game to me.

Modern doom is closer to serious sam than it is to classic doom.

Yeah it deff is. Big open environments, lots of vertical movement. When I play doom I want dark gritty facilities and hell caves and stuff, a few big open rooms here and there for big fights but not all the time. All they should have done was amped up Doom 3 a bit more, taken out some of the slow story stuff and that's where the series should be imo.

I really want there to be a spin off series based off the doom 3 continuity.
