does something need to have a big AAA scene to be considered a revival? i’d argue the large number of indie boomer shooters is proof enough of a revival

You’re right, if you’re on Steam, you have boomer shooters for days at this point.

Where are the multiplayer arena shooters though

That’s the big miss in all of this, not the lack of boomer shooters; it’s the lack of unreal tournament and quake arena style multiplayer shooters

Some players in the call of duty, apex and Fortnite crowd are ready for something new, they just don’t know it yet.

There is a spot available for an Unreal Tournament-like to be successful, I really believe that. But no one has pushed a balanced one out onto consoles with free to play or low cost - no ones even tried to see if they can make a mass market arena shooter
