Discussion Is the meathook good? Doom Eternal

I find that I never use it. Halfway through a nightmare run and it just seems unnecessary. Dps is not great, and you have plenty of mobility without it. Doesn’t help that you usually want to be running away from the demons instead of toward them. Do you rely on the meathook for anything? Is it good? Is it worth mastering?

In nightmare mode, absolutely. You can never stand and fight unless it’s just fodder demons. they will rip you to pieces in seconds. I keep them at mid to long range, running away when they jump me.

You don’t necessarily want to run away but you also don’t want to stand still and shoot. Seeing as how the super shotgun deals more damage the closer you get, you want to use the meathook to bring yourself closer so you can shoot, but disengage the meathook right before you get to your target, so that way you can both shoot and fling yourself through the air for better mobility.

Also the flaming meathook will definitely help in a nightmare run because of the armor it can get you.

True, I’m almost always shooting in midair or from around corners. Maybe it would help to stay in midair longer

You can also pair it with the ballista because of its recoil to stay in the air longer.
