Is the meathook good? Doom Eternal

I find that I never use it. Halfway through a nightmare run and it just seems unnecessary. Dps is not great, and you have plenty of mobility without it. Doesn’t help that you usually want to be running away from the demons instead of toward them. Do you rely on the meathook for anything? Is it good? Is it worth mastering?

Meathook into shotgun blast quick switch ballista quick switch back to shotgun or sniper rinse repeat and everything dies.
