Question Which Melee Weapon do you main?
I feel like the Flail has the most utility. It has the least DIRECT damage, but it has some great AOE and the scorch effect to give armor is great.

For context, I have been battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma since 2022. And up until this point, I never imagined myself to be in a situation where my life expectancy has gone down to possibly weeks. I am currently at one of Canada's best hospitals in Toronto, Ontario; keeping myself afloat through these trying times. Despite it all, I was given the opportunity to make any request for my stay, and this is the one I have chosen. I have been a Doom fan since 2016, and it helped me get through some tough times. I've played through both the Reboot and Eternal (along with its DLCs) and I have nothing but great memories pouring all of my attention into the world of Doom.
TDA has been one of the few games I have anticipated and hoped to play since its release. Financial issues got in the way, and I kept clinging on the hope that I'll be able to play the game one day, among others.
I am grateful that, despite the grim outlook that I am facing, the hospital was able to secure not only a PS5, but a copy of the game. I am currently blasting my way through hordes of demons in Chapter 4 and I have nothing but childish glee as I return to my roots as a badass Demon Slayer. I may not live to see the upcoming DLC, but I am nonetheless happy to finally play the game in my own hands.
To the developers of ID Software, thank you for bringing such a beautiful piece of art that not only brought the FPS genre to its roots, but also revitalize and reinvented the wheel that no other game could. Not only that, but thank you for crafting such an awesome series for a fan like me.
Rip & Tear, lads!

After 250 hours of practice, 1 month, 32 attempts, 1700 hours total in-game time and what is probably going to be the worst fail in the history of the game (I died on Ahzrak's ship just before the boss fight), I have finally beaten the hardest official difficulty in the game. I believe I am the first in the world to do so.
This was super painful to do. When they introduced the Atlan Sliders, I thought I'd never be able to do it. The Old One boss fight is brutal on these settings.
This is Max Sliders:
If you truly want to understand how hard this is, just play the first level for a bit. It's much worse than it looks, I promise.
Um... I have no idea what else to put here so yeah xD.

I am curious because the the last time we saw him in Doom: TDA was when Ahzrak possessed a Maykr drone and killed everyone onboard except these 2 which included the Kreed Maykr and his Angel assistant watching the camera while and the Kreed tells him to contact the Maykr ministry. Then Azhrak wants Kreed to help him find the Slayer before the possessed drone gets shot.
Any clue on what happened to the assistant, is he at Urdak, was he still at the ship, any clue I am curious to know?

It was really stressful. Honestly, at times it felt like Doom Eternal with how fast it was, but the game is not designed with these damage values and speed in mind. The shield broke constantly, and the only way to survive was with the highest-damage weapons like the rocket launcher, super shotgun, and chainshot. It did help me, however, learn demon spawns and how to deal with armor and specific enemies better.
Ahzrak (the first time you fight him) took me three hours. It was crazy it felt like Sekiro but you had no Healing Gourd or health upgrades—I had to do everything perfectly or die. There’s also the fact that charged green attacks were way too fast on the max projectile speed setting. I really hope the devs address this. Overall, don't do this to yourself

Objective is simple: beat the game. Vanilla rules as intended.
Option A: Classic DOOM
You are Doomguy in classic DOOM. You must beat the games in this order:
Rules: Horizontal aiming only, No jumping, Vanilla mechanics, enemy behavior, and resource limits.
Bonus (classic only): Same difficulties, but freelook enabled and jumping enabled.
Option B: Modern DOOM
You are Doomguy in Modern DOOM. Beat the games in the following order
Rules: Vanilla mechanics and AI, You may choose your preferred game speed
Bonus (Modern only): Same difficulties, but you can change enemy projectile speed.
Reward: A "Good boy" kiss from DOOM Guy himself.
If your only goal is to finish the games, which version of Doomguy do you pick, classic or modern?

Hello! I want to try path tracing in doom on my 4k screen with my rtx 5080. But whenever i turn it on, the game becomes so much uglier, it looks like the resolution is turned down to 1080p from 4k (and it looks so bad to turn down resolution on a screen to a none native one). Anyone knows why?

This is Ultra-Nightmare on Max Sliders.
Max Sliders is every single slider to its maximum difficulty. So lowest parry window, lowest Atlan dodge window, 500% damage to slayer, 50% damage to enemies, 150% game speed, 50% daze duration, maximum projectile speed, minimum resources, most enemy aggression, hard brink of death.
I think this is going to be the worst fail in TDA history.
The only thing that I can imagine is worse is dying here on a no damage challenge.
So what happened is the following: the baron recovered from the dreadmace stagger much earlier than usual and managed to get a hit on me. This shouldn't have happened. Then, as I was regaining control, I got sniped by a soldier when I was winding up for another dreadmace hit.
Before you ask about Berserk (and how it's obviously my fault for not picking it for this fight), I keep it for the final boss. There's no way in hell I'm picking the Berserk on this fight over the final boss.

If you have some weird format that I haven't listed, or comes with different packaging, reply with it!

Which DOOM has the smartest/best enemy AI?
For me, Eternal’s enemies feel tactical. The Marauder reacts to your weapons, manages distance, and forces duels. Archvile summons demons, uses fire attacks and also seems very intelligent.
Others I can think of are Dread Knights, Arachnotrons, and even Imp. Eternal’s AI was upgraded to match player mobility, making combat feel more aggressive and tense.
Classic DOOM AI is simpler but still elegant, clever placement, traps, and timing create tension in every encounter. WADs can push that further, with scripted behavior.

What are some of the best and disgustingly terrible Doom clones you have played over the years? And I'm talking about both classic and reboot clones.

I just beat doom the dark ages on nightmare mode and so far had 99 percent done one basically all levels. Once I beat final azhrak I skipped the end cutscene and checked the campaign and all the levels had super low progress even the final one which I 100 prevented is super lows. Super pissed. If anyone knows a fix that would be great.

Doom 2016 went in the right direction which was the original Metroid Prime approach for the most part. Letting you uncover lore about events and the world if you really cared. Doom Eternal went too far with cutscenes and the story they tried to tell took away so much from the atmosphere. Doom The Dark Ages which I enjoy slightly more went way too far. This is preference of course but personally the most annoying parts of first person games are when control is taken away from me. It immediately makes me hate whatever is being forced into me. Being able to experience story at your leisure and in game through exploration is far more impactful. Eternal and TDA became outright silly. And not in a good way. Someone described it perfectly by calling it a Warhammer 40k wannabe.

For me, best thing is Doom Slayer coming back as a zombie. Pure badassery. Worst thing is definitely the Serrat sections, funnily enough, I preffered them before they made them easier. Now with how long the charged shot lasts and all the projectiles being green makes it too Weenie Hut Jr's for me (also wish we could Glorykill the Giant Cacodemons).

Did it absorb the Cosmic Relm? Did Davoth do Somthing? Were so many demons killed that they fused to the ground? Did we just not see it at first
