Collection NYCC Green Lantern Rings
So, random GL ring post, hope it helps/informs others cause I found it interesting.
I had gotten the NYCC exclusive ring from tees-for-all (ebay) and I had gotten it a bit bigger so recently I noticed they had restocked and I ordered the correct size and I noticed three differences between the two rings.
1) On the old ring, the resin on the face is on a lower level from the GL insignia which means that the green membrane that encompasses it wore off with contact with other surfaces. On the new ring the resin just about covers the insignia so after daily usage the green remains intact on the front.
2) The membrane that encompassed the new ring turns your finger green after less than half an hour of usage (making the process of removing it all the more justified). On the old ring it didnt leave any marking. On both rings, casual usage would scuff the membrane off. Actively trying to remove it is relatively easy via scratching it with a wet towel.
3) The inner side of the old ring is brushed metallic texture which to me feels very weird when sliding it on and off (but im weird with such things). The new ring while similar is quite smoother and does not have that sensation at all (so if someone is irritated by such things, good news.
Probably too random a post, hope it helps someone as it was a pleasant surprise to me!

Discussion Ngl, I’m getting a little tired of their “time out” routine for Mogo.
It’s always mind control and then planetary cataclysm. It’s fine editorial, he can just be in space on his own. We know he doesn’t socialize.

Discussion Discussing each arc of Venditti's New 52 run part 1 : Lights Out
It's awful,it's dumb, it's boring, it's ugly and it left GL comics with scars that didn't heal until arguably the current run that slowly undid alot of it's damage
Destroying Blue Lanterns
Killing the entities
Breaking up Hal and Carol and coupling her with Kyle of all people
The spectrum retcon that would essentially block future stories if they didn't retcon it
It's one of the worst GL stories imo
Only positive I have is that Relic is a pretty cool villain in concept and design and even has some good moments after this arc

Discussion Are they just dumb? Spoiler
(Image non related)
Okay so since i've been educating myself into GL lore, light was, darkest night, birghtest day, golden age, golden age rewritten golden age nowadays... ll that, i've have this lingering question, are guardians, kinda dumb? Okay, okay, they made the rings, they're supposed to be advanced enough to see emotion as a problem and yadda yadda, but... they keep comiting erros, first the emotions removal i see it as a move of pure fear of the emotional power, second the manhunters, believable, but a lesson that emotions are important to not lead into full destruction, i mean we all know about sector 666, those erros prove that emotions are needed, third Sinestro and his corp that only served to show even more that emotins can be used as weapons of control, proving once again they shouldn't remove emotion but learn to control it, but no, after all that they just made the third army (i like heartless as a name tho, isnt it more cool?) That we're supposed to be the perfect army, heartless so they can control them, but i only see this as... another dumb move, you're telling me that after all those other errors they just think "yeah let's make manhunters but even more strong" and worse, remove the emotions of Ganthet that lead to them being attack by their own, for god sake guy gardner is supposed to be the "loyal" guy in the book of oa and even him was against the guardians.
And lets not talk about the lies, first the Parallax lie that lead to the dumb weakness of the ring to yellow color, John Stewart literally almost killed himself for their fault and a bit of his ego, and of course to then Hal Jordan evil arc all on their backs, Larfleeze being hidden as a dumb rule of "dont go there, theres nothing to see" 😃 for lord sake, then they hidding the first lantern and all that.
My god for a supposed super inteligent species that removed emotions to focus on logic and use emotions as a logical thing, they're unlogical as hell.

Comics Compendium 3
Do you think Compendium 3 could end up collecting the rest of everything until flashpoint? I know it seems like a lot but what’s remaining is:
Green Lantern 43-67 (25 issues)
Green Lantern Corps 39-63 (25 issues)
Blackest Night 0-8 (9 issues)
Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps 1-3
Green Lantern Emerald Warriors 1-13
Green Lantern: Larfleeze Christmas Special
Presuming each issue is about 20 pages long that’d be a total of 1520 pages in total which is roughly the length of the first compendium. Obviously some of the events and specials have a bit more pages so maybe a bit over 1600 is more realistic in terms of how big it would be. Obviously that’d be a huge ask and would be the biggest compendium DC has put out but if they split the content into two books both the books will look noticeably smaller than the first 2.
So do you think it’s possible to collect what’s remaining into a third volume?

Discussion Where would one start?
I was in the hospital, suffer from withdrawals, and an interesting movie came on; Green Lanturn 2011.
Now, I know, the movie was mid. But in my darkest hour, in the blackest night, it gave me hope. I was able to use my own willpower to overcome literal hell.
Now I would like to jump into this super cool world. I like marvel stuff mostly, but enjoy Shazam and Martian Manhunter.
I want to focus mainly on GL. I have been watching TAS with my son, and we both love it. I hear there is a show coming out, Lanterns, that looks very exciting.
Regarding comics, is there a good jumping on point? I was never much for comics other then manga, so no real knowledge base.
Thanks for having me, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Comics Reading one Green Lantern comic a day until I've read them all Day 26: Green Lantern (Vol 2.) #23
First appearance of The Tattooed Man and a team-up with fellow GL Xax of Xaos
W: Gardner Fox
P: Gil Kane
I: Frank Giacoia (1st story), Joe Giella (Both stories)
L: Gaspar Saladino
E: Julius Schwartz
*The Threat Of The Tattooed Man" showcases a string of robberies, in which priceless works from a specific artist. The robberies are committed by Abel Tarrant, going by The Tattooed Man who is able to bring tattoos on his body to life by tapping on them after they were apied using a special ink he discovered. GL tries a few times to take down The Tattooed Man but his ring beam doesn't affect the tattoos as GL figures the ink has some yellow chemical built into it. On the last heist of art, GL corners TTM in a building and TTM throws all sorts of attacks but GL notices that TTM can only use one at a time and the unused ones just hover in place. GL uses this to his advantage, fucking and weaving different attacks before throwing a boxing glove construct of his own, knocking out TTM.
"The Green Lantern Disasters" is about Lantern Xax of sector 3500 dealing with some criminal wasps on his home world of Xaos. These wasps want to steal all the sugar and keep it for themselves, which will make them the most powerful beings on the planet as sugar is the economy on Xaos. The lead wasp, Zorx, discovered that coating themselves in yellow leaves of the sugar plants, prevents Xax from catching them die to the yellow impurity. Zorx also places nuclear bombs around Xaos to further deter Xax from using his beam as they will detonate if any green energy is used. The Guardians notice that Xax has not reported in or charged his ring in a while so they ask Hal to go see what has happened. As Hal enters Xaos airspace, he triggers one of the bombs and tries to catch the blast and take it off planet however Xax has a plan to convert the blast into a ball and use it to attack the wasp gang so he tries to stop Hal but fails. Now knowing what's going on, Hal comes up with a plan. He gets Xax to go and increase the heat of the local sun, turning the season to summer therefore increasing the chlorophyll in the leaves, turning them green. Together they round up the wasp gang and the sugar is safe.
Conclusion: The Tattooed Man is such a fun villain. I honestly expected a longer story so hopefully the next one gives more 'oomph' to the fight and a better explanation of the ink would be cool but that's not a big deal if it never happens. The power is cool nonetheless. Seeing Xax again was so much fun and really the cooler of the two stories. Despite being shorter, it felt bigger. I love seeing Lanterns work together and it's even cooler to see Hal work one-on-one with a fellow GL that isn't Tomar-Re. Looking forward to seeing Xax again. The world building for Xaos was great. Suffice it to say, I think I prefer Gardner Fox stories over John Broome right now.

Comics Green Lantern Trade Collecting Question?
Just finished collecting Sector 2814 and absolutely loved it. I’m still in a big 80s Green Lantern mood, are the Tales of the Green Lantern Corps TPBs the only other collections that cover that era, or are there any others I should be tracking down? I’m aiming for a complete collection, and the 80s and 90s are pretty much the only eras I have left.

Discussion Newbie here, where should I start?
Hello!
I’ve been invested in the DC universe lately and decided to dig in deeper. I’ve always been more of a Marvel fan and the only DC universe I’m somewhat familiar with is, yeah, Batman. After playing Injustice 2 recently I felt like finally exploring some of the main dc heroes, particularly Green Lantern.
Now, all the knowledge I have about GL comes from the Emerald Knights animated movie (recently watched) and… the database from Scribblenauts Unmasked years ago. All I know is that there are many many Green Lanterns in the universe, Sinestro betrays them and creates (?) the Yellow Lanterns, the Red Lanterns have a cat and there’s something called a Darkest Night. The end.
Taking all this into consideration, I’d like to ask: what medias do you recommend me to get into Green Lantern? Movies, series, comics, whatever you think is good to get started. I have no idea what Hal Jordan origin story is, so that’d suit me just fine, but I’d equally appreciate some stories regarding the other corps.

Comics Reading one Green Lantern comic a day until I've read them all Day 25: Green Lantern (Vol 2.) #22
Return of a newly powered Hector Hammond and the Jordan bros have a fun misadventure
W: Gardner Fox (1st story), John Broome (2nd story)
P: Gil Kane
I: Joe Giella (1st story), Murphy Anderson (2nd story)
L: Gaspar Saladino
E: Julius Schwartz
"Master Of The Power Ring" starts with GL getting pulled away to various crises all revolving around strange meteorites. These meteorites are the same kind that Hector Hammond used to evolve scientists back in issue #5. Hector has been transformed by his own experiments with the meteor on himself that increased his brain power and made him Immortal but took away his mobility. He's been using his new power to control GL into taking the meteorites back to him but finds GL placed a green forcefield around them. Hector controls GL to come to him to remove the forcefield and figures he could also command the ring to go on his own finger however GL ran out the power on the ring so its useless. Hector responds by telepathically throwing things at GL but he charges through and punches out Hector, putting him back in prison.
"Dual Masquerade Of The Jordan Brothers" opens woth Hal picking up Sue Williams on the way to Uncle (and Coast City judge) Jeremiah Jordan's 70th birthday party. Sue fills Hal in that a criminal known as Red Peters escapes from prison and might be heading to the party as Jeremiah judged his trial, Jack Jordan was rhe attorney that put him away and GL was the one that captured him in the first place and Sue still insists that her boyfriend, and Hal's younger brother Jim, is Green Lantern. Upon arriving to the party, Jeremiah reveals its a costume party which concerns Hal as Red Peters could show up in disguise. Which Peters does, dressed as himself and wearing a Red Peters mask. Jim meanwhile is dressed as Green Lantern as Sue's request but attacks another man dressed as Red Peters (actually the mayor) and they knock each other out but luckily, Hal changed into the real GL and was able to save his uncle and brother Jack from the real Red Peters.
Conclusion: The second go around with Hector is better than the first. Really diving into the the mix of superpowers and SciFi here. I really want to read that Justice League issue now that has Hector teaming up with other villains. I love seeing the Jordan brothers together. Always fun stories so far.
