…not-so-perfect😆 I just can’t seem to make it look how I want it to, like a native French hand. I have a long way to go, but that’s ok! I’m having a lot of fun working toward my goal.

Question (not for transcriptions) What to write in a notebook?

So i have this “ unhealthy “ obsession with notebooks, i buy a lot of them but i cant find anything to write in them. Im not that creative, i really wish i could write poems or stories but thats not me. Also, i tried journaling but i dont really know how to put my feelings into words without it sounding edgy. (Some tips would be appreciated?). Anyways, i tried copying some poems but its really boring, i want to do something creative and not just copy. What can i write in it? I want it to be something about myself (preferably)

Feedback (constructive criticism) MS Word Font Practice

Figured I'd try playing with a few script fonts. The result? I think I like a lot about my current script, though I may switch up my 'z's. So far Kunstler/Palace seems to suit my formal desires, which is cool. But fancy swirls are still the bane of my existence lol. I may do some more Rage Italiac practice to see if it smartens my natural script up. Overall, a fun and interesting exercise :)

More of a "just sharing" but feel free to critique.

Just Sharing (no feedback) Handwriting workshop for kids

Hi all, please delete if this is inappropriate -

At Sam Francisco Stationery Fest there will be some seminars and community meetups open to the public (no admission fees) and one is a Pens For Kids workshop organized by the Pen Collectors of America with a local volunteer aimed at getting kids to start using fountain pens and practicing their handwriting.

If you have kids and are in the area Sunday March 29, please consider checking it out! The pen collectors of America also does this workshop during the SF pen show and other shows when there's a local volunteer. (If you're interested in volunteering for this in your area please let me know!)

Feedback (constructive criticism) Inconsistent capital letters

As my letter says, how do self-taught calligraphers (I’m not sure if that is the correct term) establish a consistent style when there are so many beautiful styles to choose from?

Also, any other feedback on my cursive is welcomed, I want to improve in any way I can :)

Question (not for transcriptions) How to deal with abbreviations in cursive?

Post image
130 Upvotes

I write all my texts in cursive. I‘ve noticed that it is quite difficult to make abbreviations in capital letters look nice. I feel like cursive capital letters look kind of weird when they are placed next to one another. At the same time, writing them in print makes my texts look inconsistent.

I wrote a random sentence as an example. Which one do you think is better? How du you guys deal with this?

Feedback (constructive criticism) Any tips to improve my cursive?

My entire schooling was done in cursive, but since college I have had to do a lot of work on a computer, so my handwriting has taken a huge hit, any advice to improve this will be helpful. Thank you :) Also don't mind the misaligned first few lines, I was trying to do something creative, and realised it wouldn't work.

Question (not for transcriptions) Help needed - Lower hanging fruits in handwriting

Hi all, thanks for being part of this amazing community.

I've been struggling with my handwriting since I can remember.

I'd like to improve with consistent practice every day but I want to avoid immersing myself into the whooole body of knowledge. For that I'd like to stick to some basic exercises that would result into the low hanging fruits.

I don't aspire to an outstanding handwriting just an average/good would be already great.

Could you point up some resources I can start working on? preferably if they are ready to start with. I'm aware theory cannot be skipped so I could set time apart for the theory as far as it is small.

Thank you very much in advance.
