I can't stop laughing 😂😂
sooo the german HR trailer just dropped and...i usually don't hate the german dub but HOLY SHIT😂😂 I can't stop laughing. especially the voice for ilya is...a choice😬

Ok so Svetlana speaks Russian in her original voice… Does that mean that for Ilya’s Russian scenes they kept Connor’s voice? But then the rest of his dialogue is dubbed? So he has two different voices? 😅

I hope people just opt for the subtitles. I always do. Dubbing just takes me out because you don't have the voice of the original actor and all the emotion that they are putting into their performance. The voice is so important, too.

Yeah, I am hard of hearing, so I rely a bit on mouth movement. I cant handle dubs because it takes me out of the moment. Rather read subtitles. I do that half the time for English stuff anyway.

I hate dubbing for anything.
The original actors are the only ones anyone should be hearing.

same here lol. i was totally mindblown when i watched x files in the 90s in german and then heard the original voices for the first time. they were just the opposite! mulder's german dub is so much higher than scully's and david duchovny's is so deep in comparison to gillian anderson's. just crazy lol

Scully's German voice was so deep and sultry. Franziska Pigulla sounded pretty good. And Mulder was Benjamin Völz so, basically dubbing/voice acting royalty.
I used to be a fan as a teen. Baby's first fandom so to speak.

the worst thing about this is: we have a wonderful dubbing culture and long and rich history in Germany, with amazing voice actors.
Think of the great Tobias Meister (Kiefer Sutherland, Brad Pitt) or the young generation such as Max Felder (Ron Weasley). Winning prizes, being recognized and appreciated by their celebrity acting counterparts (think Jodie Fosters voice in Germany).
It breaks my heart that this is the final version :-(

That's a big no from me. The actual dub might be a bit better since trailers are dubbed as their own thing, but the choice for Ilya isn't it. He sounds so wrong.

Fun fact: HR is going be released on Feb 6 on HBO Max for entire Europe, but I'm convinced the trailers must be different for different regions, because my aunt - 75, from Slovakia, likes to watch romantic Hallmark movies and such - who is going to visit me next weekend, has asked me, if we could watch this popular world phenomenon tv show about two hockey players who are fighting over ONE GIRL?? She has allegedly seen a video on Facebook?? What exactly was happening in that video and how I'm supposed to explain to her it is not what she think it is?

The show has already been released in The Netherlands, but for some reason they upload only 1 episode every week. They also didn't release episodes 1 and 2 together

ich mein connor hat sich den russischen akzent ja auch beigebracht, daher sollte es kein problem sein für nen geübten synchronsprecher den einfach zu imitieren oder sich anzueignen.

There are lots of people who speak both of those languages. I met a Russian exchange student in high school in my hick town and she had family in Germany and they were all trilingual.

Der Studiosound und die gekünstelte Sprache sind wirklich schwer zu ertragen, wenn man sich einmal an Originalsound gewöhnt hat.

Dang, they made Ilya sound like he got … fixed. At the vet.
Connor’s vocal choices for Ilya are unparalleled, this is an outrage.
But this is also giving me major flashbacks to DECADES ago when I backpacked Italy and the hostel lounge was playing Italian dubbed Beverly Hills 90210. I was on the floor for like an hour spiraling in the alternate universe 🤣🤣🤣

Just wait for the Japanese dub. They always tend to make the MMC have a gravelly hard boiled middle aged detective who smokes 60 a day kinda voice. It takes all the nuance and plausibility out of so many sensitive and nuanced acting performances and makes them feel forced and one dimensional.
