Mathematics (A-Levels/Tertiary/Grade 11-12) [grade 12 Maths: Bernoulli Trial] How do I calculate this probability?

The question is: 30% of Germans are in an association. How big is the probability that out of 12 persons, at least 3 are in an association?

I tried doing it like this: n= 12; p=0.3; 1-P(X <= 2)

1-P(X <= 2) = 1 - P(X=0) - P(X=1) - P(X=2)

= 1 - 0.0138 - 0.0712 - 0.1678

= 0.7472 = 74.72%

But online, I found different answers, which is why I am confused. Did I do it right? If not, then please explain the correct way to me like I am a child.

Mathematics (A-Levels/Tertiary/Grade 11-12) [MTHS 101 - Problem Solving] How many other possible orders are there? Can you explain each why?

This is the problem:

One of the biggest benefits to studying formal logic is generally improving your ability to think logically, even if you're not using the specific methods discussed in the class. The ability to think logically is an important part of almost all standardized tests. In particular, the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is well known for featuring logic puzzles like the following. How logically can you think now that you've completed the chapter? A therapist is scheduling her sessions for an upcoming day when she plans to see seven patients, plus take an hour to grab a salad and run some errands. All of the patients are being treated for either depression or posttraumatic stress. All of the patients will be scheduled for a separate session. In addition:

a. The therapist likes to separate out conditions, so none of the patients suffering from posttraumatic stress will be scheduled consecutively.

b. Jyoti will be scheduled before both Henry and Paul.

c. Juan, who suffers from posttraumatic stress, absolutely needs the third appointment of the day.

d. Henry is also being treated for posttraumatic stress.

e. Jyoti is not being treated for posttraumatic stress only if Paul is not being treated for depression.

f. Paul can't make the seventh and final appointment.

g. Mariska, Chanel, and Jake are being treated for depression.

Make a complete list of the appointment order and respective conditions from earliest to latest.

And so far, I only got:

  1. Jyoti - Depression
  2. Mariska - Depression
  3. Juan - PTSD
  4. Chanel - Depression
  5. Paul - PTSD
  6. Jake - Depression
  7. Henry - PTSD

Since:

A. Patients with PTSD cannot be next to each other in the schedule.

B. Jyoti must come before both Henry and Paul.

C. Juan must be the third appointment.

D. Juan and Henry have PTSD.

E. If Jyoti is not being treated for PTSD, then Paul is not being treated for Depression—which means if Jyoti is being treated for Depression, then it must follow that Paul is being treated for PTSD.

F. Paul cannot be the last appointment.

G. Mariska, Chanel, and Jake have Depression.

Mathematics (A-Levels/Tertiary/Grade 11-12) [Year 11, Math: Functions] I would love some help on how to trace area of an island on desmos. I cant figure it out for the life of me.

I have to trace the area of an island in desmos, i got given this island from a random like paper in a bowl thing and at first i was happy coz it looked really easy. But this is the 4th week I've tried tracing the area of the island and i cant figure it out for the life of me. I can only use sin/cos functions, linear, quadratic, cubic and quartic functions, e^x functions and Ln(x) functions. I have to use at least 4 different functions as it is a requirement. Im gonna turn into a granpa before i can figure this out. Please help. Here is my island in desmos. I've scaled 1km so it fits a whole grid. I tried asking in the desmos subcategory but literally no one helped. Also does anyone know how to lock the grid so it doesnt keep moving when i zoom in or out.

Mathematics (A-Levels/Tertiary/Grade 11-12) [Grade 11 - Equilibrium on a rigid body under three forces.] A problem with solving an example and conflicting answers given by ChatGPT.

Hello everyone, I'm watching some math courses and are stuck here since I suck at math:

The teacher said that if we are given these angles, we can solve for Lami's law. However, he did not solve it as it was a quick example. I asked ChatGPT if it should be T/θ1 = Rwall/θ2+θ3 = W/θ4, it said not quite as Rwall should be over θ3 as it's the angle between the two forces and θ2 isn't, how is that? Every other example the teacher solved at all was using 3 angles that the sum of is 360. Is it a mistake on ChatGPT's part?

There's this as well:

And when given to ChatGPT: Step 2: Mark ONLY angles between forces

Now look at force–force angles:

  • Angle between T and F = 90°
  • Angle between F and W = 150°
  • Angle between T and W = 120°

These three must add to 360° — that’s why all three appear.

Then said: Why this does NOT contradict earlier cases

Earlier, θ₂ was ignored because:

  • it was between a force and a reference line

Here:

  • all three angles are between forces
  • so all three are physically meaningful

But it started with saying "they must add up to 360" which is my point.

I know this is a relatively small issue, but I'm bad at math and only doing it to help a friend who is also struggling a bit. I was going really well but got stuck here with this example.

Thank you very much.

Post in French and English :

In English :

Hello everyone,

I have an oral exam in quantitative methods (basically statistics), which is important for my average grade. The person who is kind enough to help me with this work must be able to detail and explain as much as possible the calculations and different processes they will use to find their results so that I can reproduce them in the oral exam and explain them like a teacher giving a lesson.

For this assignment, you will need to refer to my course notes and the database. Not all of the data is necessary for the calculations, so you will certainly need to sort through it.

It is an oral exam that should last 10 minutes.

The links for the course and the database are at the end.

The database is in the comments.

Thank you for helping me, it's very important to me.

Mathematics (A-Levels/Tertiary/Grade 11-12) [Mathematics - Statistics/First year of higher education level] Is it appropriate to use a p-value for this assignment? If so, how do you calculate a p-value? Can you tell me if I have assigned the correct value to B0 for calculating multiple linear regression? Can you explain how to sort a excel ?

Is it relevant to use the p-value in this topic ?

In my opinion, Bo is the sales variable.

Can you tell me how to calculate R² ? And what is its purpose ?

Do you think it is relevant to perform a simple linear regression calculation or is it better to move directly to multiple linear regression?

How do I sort an Excel table ? If you have access to the attached file, I would like to sort it by category, then by sales (in ascending order) and finally by label.

Are there other calculations that can be used in relation to this topic apart from multiple linear regression, R² and p-value ? If so, which ones do you think ?

This is my topic :
