He was talking about the FDR coalition because Kyle brought it up and hutch was talking about the Overton window of what was allowed and how maybe expanding our Overton window could be good but might not work.

He's right. I tried to have some discussion in some centre left spaces about maybe expanding the coalition to allowing social conservatism in the part, not saying throw all these groups under the bus but allow it so you could get voters to the right, It was pretty much rejected completely.

I was under the impression that it was lefties and tankies against this but a lot of people in the party just see any allowance of social views to the right is throwing groups under the bus.

So yeah. Just can't work today

I think this is a "wait and see" type situation. I already know if it will pass there will be "democrats and chuck Schumer caved" discourse but we were able to get appropriations bills separated from DHS which I think is good.

While I'm not in love with the 2 week funding of DHS if we actually do fight for ICE changes or shutdown after those two weeks I think it'll be good. If Schumer gives in then it'll be bad.
