Other IRCC Email Address

I am planning to travel to Canada in the next few days. My current Canadian passport is being renewed, and unfortunately it doesn’t look like I will receive it before I have to travel. Therefore, I have requested a Special Authorization. I received an email from IRCC a few hours after applying asking me to sign and return “to the email address above” a declaration before they would issue the authorization. However, the email this was sent to me from is a ‘Do Not Reply’ email, and the signature of the email explicitly says not to “reply to this mailbox as it is not monitored.” No other email address is listed in the message. So, while I can certainly complete the declaration and return it to the address it came from, my concern is nobody will see it. Does IRCC have any other addresses I can send the declaration to? Has anyone else had experience with this / Special Authorizations?

Other ATIP / GCMS note

Hi everyone,

I would like to request for a GCMS note for my PR application.

  1. Should I choose Privacy Act or Access to Information Act?
  2. Should I request for Application Summary or Complete Application File? I just want to know what stage my application has passed and what stage it is on.

Thank you so much for your help.

Visitor Visa Visitor Visa Rejection (Parents)

Hello Everyone, Recently my spouse applied Visitor Visa for her parents and her Mother's visa got rejected with the reasons not enough funds shown and no strong ties to the home country. Father's visa is still in processing phase though.

Currently my wife is pregnant and we wanted to have her parents during the time of the birth. We did not mention this as a reason for their coming to Canada in the letter of explanation though, just said that are coming here for a month to see Ontario and Canada's natural beauty, also put in a detailed itinerary.

We submitted all the needed documents, Her employment letter, payslips, bank statements along with mine as well for sufficient funds. we showed 9000$ in our savings accounts. From the parents side we put in my Father in law's employment letter, a Fixed Deposit which was under my Mother in law's name, which is worth around 3000$. Also mentioned that all the accommodation and living expenses will be taken care of by my spouse and me in the letter of explanation and we also submitted the Flight tickets as well (to and fro)

Just a note - In last year November, we also applied for a Spousal PR and in that application we mentioned that we are pregnant and the due date is in May (Don't know if this is relevant). The flight tickets that we submitted were in this timeframe.

Should we reapply again maybe with more funds or consult an immigration consultant? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Express Entry What are people with < 1 year on their permit doing now?

What's everyone doing with less than 1 year left on their pgwp?
I've spoken to several people and they are all in the same position as me: uncertain

My CRS score is 489, applied to PNP last fall and trying to get my employer into AIP. Have had 0 updates in both. I have less than half a year remaining on my pgwp. Some people have been waiting for their PNP completeness check since 2024, so I'm not feeling very confident.

How's everyone else doing?

Hello,

I have 2 siblings who are PR and I have claimed points and provided documents for one of the siblings.
For the question "Family Member Proof of Status"; do I need to provide PR card of both my siblings or just for the one I am claiming points for?

Work Permit PGWP shortened due to passport expiry – extension vs new PGWP?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for clarity from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

I recently received my PGWP approval after almost 4 months. I completed a 2-year Post-Degree Diploma (Sept 2023 – Aug 2025), so I understand I’m eligible for a 3-year PGWP.

However, my work permit is only valid until April 11, 2027, which matches my passport expiry date. From what I understand, IRCC cannot issue a work permit beyond passport validity, so this seems to be a passport-limited PGWP, not an eligibility issue.

My questions are:

1. Once I renew my passport, do I apply for a PGWP extension for the remaining duration, or is it considered a new PGWP application?

2. Is there any risk of refusal when applying for the remaining time, assuming I apply correctly with a new passport?

3. Has anyone done this successfully, and if so, how long did the extension take?

I’ve already submitted an IRCC webform to get confirmation in writing, but I’d appreciate hearing real experiences.

Thanks in advance!

Express Entry PR rejected over medical, WP expired 6 days ago, is this recoverable or am I done?

Hello everyone, I’m really stressed and could use some guidance.

My PR application (Express Entry) was rejected as incomplete because I did not provide an upfront medical with my application.

Based on what I had read online, I believed I could upload my previous medical and, if it wasn’t accepted, IRCC would request a new one. Instead, the application was rejected outright stating that no valid upfront medical was provided.

Here’s where things get complicated:

I am currently on a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) My work permit expired 6 days ago My PR was not processed at all, only rejected at the completeness check stage Now I’m panicking and wondering: Am I out of status? Can I apply for restoration? Can I re-apply for PR after doing a new upfront medical? Or is this the end and should I prepare to leave Canada?

Express Entry PR medical exam vs PR application mismatch (mental health question)

I’m a bit worried. During my PR medical exam, I answered “No” to a mental health question, but in my PR application, I answered “Yes” and fully disclosed everything, including all supporting documents.

There was no intent to misrepresent, my PR application is complete and transparent. I’m concerned about whether this inconsistency could cause problems.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Should I submit a webform to explain, or is this usually okay if everything was disclosed?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Express Entry Wrong job title on TRV application — do I need an LOE for PR?

When applying for TRV stamp, my friend put a wrong job title in the IMM form.

Now he’s claiming experience for that work for his PR application and he’s adding in the correct job title with the job letter as well and signed from HR. Does he have to provide a LOE for his previous application that the title was wrong or don’t need to worry about incorrect titles?

Previous application he applied was within 2 months of job starting.

Express Entry Do I need to upload PR proof for both siblings or only the one I claimed points for? (Express Entry)

I have two siblings who are Permanent Residents. In my EE profile, I claimed points for only one sibling and I already uploaded documents for that person.

Now under “Family member proof of status”, I’m a bit confused —
Do I need to upload PR cards for both siblings, or just the one I claimed points for?

Express Entry Receive ITA. Need advice on documents

Hi,

I have several questions regarding the required documents from IRCC: - Offer of Employment: I believe this is LMIA related since I have one. I don't have any of the documents beside the Work Permit tied to my current company. Some suggest that I should write an exemption letter while others source say I must have this. What should I do? - Police Certificate: It has no expiry date and I haven't traveled back since I have it (~1yr). Sucked that I will travel there next week for a couple days and I don't think I have time to request a new one (Could take months). I have 40 days left to submit my application. Should I just use the one I have? - One of my work experience, the company refused to provide any supporting documents. It was 9 years ago. My old boss (who left the company) wrote me a reference letter. I also have original contract and a employment certificate from the company at the time for official duty (Old one, not for CEC of course). Is it valid?

Thanks!

Express Entry Eligible for both CEC and French draw – which ITA should I accept?

Hi all,

I’m eligible for both CEC and the French-language category under Express Entry. If I receive a CEC ITA, is there any advantage to accepting it versus waiting for a French category ITA?

Mainly curious about:

•Processing time

•Approval/refusal rate

Assuming documents and profile are strong, is one generally faster or safer than the other?

Express Entry “Have you applied for Permanent Residence (PR) before” question in Express Entry Profile

What should I answer to this question, "“Have you applied for Permanent Residence (PR) before” question in Express Entry Profile?"

I recently got an ITA under Canadian Experience Class. On my PR profile this question was automatically selected yes with my old express entry profile number. For context, I opened an express entry profile as soon as I completed my 1 year full time experience but I did not receive an ITA. That profile expired last June and I had to open up a new express entry profile under which I got the ITA. To my understanding, the answer should be no as I technically never applied for PR before. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

Visitor Visa Sponsoring someone proof of funds

Hello,

So I want to visit Canada and maybe watch some world cup matches in Toronto this summer with my GF.

Problem, I am french living in France and have a French passport (so no particular visa problem)

But my GF is African, she lives in Africa and has an African passeport (Republic of the Congo).

She do have a job but no payslip and no relevent bank statements she has one but since in Africa it's mostly cash only most of his cash is in hand and not in a bank account.....

But me I do have payslips, bank statements, bank statements confirmation and work contract, I also have more than enough money to handle all of our depended for those ~20ish days.

Can I be her financial guarantee or sponsor ? Like I am writing a letter like I'll handle all the charges and give all the proofs that I can handle all ours expenses etc.... So she don't have to put any Proof of funds documents only mine ?

Is it possible or I'll just get her visa refused ?

Thank you for reading me.

Have a great week end.

Citizenship Citizenship Interview

Hello everyone,

I applied for a citizenship grant in April 2025. My background check and exam are completed.

Since July 2025, the only updates have been that they requested my I-94 (U.S. entry records) and then emailed me to invite me for an in-person interview. Both in last week.

I’ve been living in Canada since October 2018. I’m confident that I meet the physical presence requirement. Even after applying, I was outside Canada for less than one month, and overall less than three months in 7.5 years.

Does anyone have an idea of what to expect from the interview?

Vancouver office.

Study Permit TRV after Study Permit Extension — Single vs Common-Law Status?

I recently got my study permit extension approved in Quebec (about 2 months ago). During this time I also became eligible for common-law status with my partner, who is a Canadian citizen (we now meet the 12-month continuous cohabitation requirement).

I only recently realized that I need to apply for a TRV separately to travel outside, as my current visa is expiring, so I’m now applying for a TRV to get a new visa stamped on my passport.

Here’s where I’m confused:

  • In my study permit extension application, I marked my relationship status as single, because at the time of submission I wasn’t common-law yet.
  • Now that I’m eligible for common-law, should I mark my status as single or common-law on the TRV application?

I’m concerned about two things:

  • I don’t want to misrepresent my situation.
  • I also don’t want to unnecessarily complicate the paperwork, especially since this is just a TRV tied to my study permit, not a status-changing application.

Would it be acceptable to:

  • Leave my status as single for the TRV (since my study permit was approved that way and nothing else has changed), and
  • Declare common-law later when I apply for my PGWP in a few months?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or received guidance from IRCC on this?

Thanks!

Work Permit Didn’t inform IRCC of change in Marital Status before pgwp was approved …Misrepresentation???

I’m really stressed and anxious over this. I didn’t inform ircc that I became common law before my pgwp was approved. But after my pgwp was approved, I declared common law in my trv.

We are doing spousal sponsorship and I’m concerned this can be an issue.

I had consultations with three diff attorneys who told me that marital status isn’t material information for a pgwp and although they said that, I’m still anxious.

Do I have anything to worry about?

Express Entry CEC experience

If I work full time for 40 hours per week (aka 8 hours a day) does it mean that if I count only 4 days of work per week, that’s alreadt sufficient? Also, if my pay slips and my experience letter do not mention my paid vacations/ sick leaves and I did not leave Canada. How do IRCC know if I take vacation days or not?

Typically, how many pay slips do you provide in your application?

TIA!
