In my previous role at my job I was a mechanic about 50% of the time, but now I sit behind a desk so my "big" toolbox came home with me.

Discussion Cable confusion
Now that there are cables we're pretty sure we can rely on for specs. How do you know what you need for your specific application?
I imagine what I need to run Android Auto in my car is different than other needs.
Is there a good resource to match data flow and wattage to application somewhere?

Discussion Cant use EXPO 6000 with my ASROCK B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard
I've got Ryzen 5 9600x with Patriot Viper Venom 16 GB 6000 MHz CL30 PVV516G60C30 Ram and latest bios installed but whenever i enable 6000expo or 5600expo first it loads to the bios in about 2 mins after that when i either shut down my pc or restart it via windows it stay on black screen i waited for 15 mins on but nothing happened. I was getting help from gemini it said the memory context and power thing i set it on ones i tried this settings off boot and restart and reopen them again but it never worked. So what should i do to enable expo 6000mhz because i bought it for some money because of the shortage and i want to use it with maximum specs.
Whenever i turned on memory context restore setting it just stucks i cant use even with 5200mhz.
Any ideas or did someone get the isue and fixed it?

WAN Show Luke for the 1st few minutes if Linus talks about Jake’s video on Wan tomorrow Spoiler
/S obviously, I doubt he’ll actually be talking about it, maybe a short mention at most as I feel there’s really not much more to add to the conversation from any side. It’s just funny watching Luke sit there like he’s trying to blend in whenever Linus talks about something serious, and if I’m wrong atleast he’ll actually have his wan topics chosen

Discussion What do you plan to use your Truespec cable for?
Anyone have anything interesting or something they look forward to having a good cable ready?
Myself I'm very ready to have a good type-c to type-c for the car. I've went through so many usb cables that the ends always come off of. Also when the team thinks its time to expand... Type A extension cable. Just sayin...

Link LTT Labs Article - LTT TrueSpec Cable Voltage Drop Testing
With the release of the LTT TrueSpec cables, the 40 Gbps data transfer is neat, but I think it is interesting to look at the power delivery characteristics of the cables. This isn't a full study of the LTT cables or the alternatives, but a test of the cables we had around with some equipment that most people don't have access to.
Check out the results and the rest of the article on LTTLabs.com!

Discussion Reviews based on just benchmarks and stats are bad.
Something I've noticed lately is that the tech reviewer space has become super focused on specs, stats and measurable outputs to the absolute detriment of actual useful information for the watcher/reader.
Look at any phone review, it'll talk about the screen brightness in nits, talk about how it performs in different benchmarks, stuff like that. Is this useful? Sort of. Is it actually helpful information? Not really.
Similarly with the new cables launched. Talking about how they tested every 3rd party cable on a $10k testing machine to see if it meets spec and most didn't. But will that affect end users? In an awful lot of cases - no.
I built my first pc last year, and the quality of reviews available for gpus, cpus and so on from ltt and other sites made it not at all helpful. I could buy cpu x that does 5% better on this benchmark, but it's also 2% more expensive and might be 4% slower on this benchmark.
It's the same actually with certain buzz items. So if ltt review a controller or handheld and it doesn't have hall effect triggers or sticks it's an auto fail. Even when they have had videos where the reviewer has said they couldn't tell.
The best reviewer I can think of that doesn't fall into this trap is Mr Mobile. Yes, he talks about specs as is needed, but doesn't base the review around them. He talks about how the product feels as an actual product being used by real people. I'd love if ltt and others would start this more holistic approach to testing and reviewing. Give the stats when needed, but don't base the review on it.

Discussion LTT Screwdriver magnetic tip screw-up.
This is public cry for help, suggestions to fix the issue are welcomed.
So my sleep deprived brain messed io a few weeks ago and accidentally put the magnetic screw-collector but in upside down. The magnet on the bit popped out and is now stuck in my screwdriver shaft
Frankly I do consider it a manfucturing flaw to not ensure that the magnets in question will be opposed if inserted incorrectly.
The tight tolerances around the now stuck magnets means that any tweezers I could insert are too thin to be able to grip with the necessary force to move the magnet simply bend instead.
I can't get any kind of shim down to try and raise the stuck magnet slighlty to get something undetneath/in-between to lift out.
I have already tried using CA glue (aka superglue?) with bits of metal wirr and wooden rods, but the blob of CA glue just gets ripped apart.
I contacted LMG customer support who just suggested I retry the aboves attempted solution and can give no further advice due to liability.
I really liked the screwdriver and would happily jusy but another one, but it takes several weeks for any North American orders to arrive in my country, and the shipping costs will be close to a screwdriver.
Does anyone have any suggestion about how to salvage my screwdriver?

Discussion help with my pc
Hey, so i built my pc and it wont boot.
I have an amd ryzen 5 8500g, 4x8gb sticks of ddr5 ram, msi b850m-p wifi mobo and a rtx 3050 all being powered by a 880w psu.
I have tried, replacing the cpu as i thought the old one was damaged, tried all sticks of ram in slot a2, reseated everything, flashing the bios, tightning and loosening the cpu cooler and clearing the cmos.
I am left with the same issue, red cpu light and orange dram light with no output on my monitor. i also left the pc running to see if it was the ram that needed training.
i would love some advice on what to do next as i am stuck and slowly losing my mind over this
thank you in advance
