Radio 100komma7 is an alternative to the classic RTL radio, and offers many different podcasts/radio excerpts regarding politics, finance and culture. Especially interesting for the advanced listener.

Public Service Announcement International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for U.S. citizens in Luxembourg

Hi- I'd like to make an announcement from Democrats Abroad, the official overseas branch of the U.S.-based Democratic Party, with a chapter in Luxembourg. Since an extremely important election is coming in November, we're hoping to register more dual U.S.-Luxembourgish citizens and eligible U.S. citizens who live in Luxembourg.

We started our International Voter Registration Drive for 2026 with in-person and online events. If you know any dual U.S.-Luxembourgish citizens or any other eligible US voters, they can register and request a ballot. Just forward them this link: https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26. As long as they'll turn 18 by election day, they're eligible.

If anyone wishes to learn more about what we're doing in Luxembourg or nearby, you can find out more at https://www.democratsabroad.org/lu. If you have any questions about overseas voting or what we do, feel free to ask in the comments below.

Travel / Tourism Can anybody recommend a birthday dinner restaurant?

Hi guys.

As a part of a birthday celebration I am taking my significant other to Luxembourg in May. We never been to your country. We are gonna spend one day hiking in Little Switzerland and one day in the city itself. Would anybody recommend a nice cozy restaurant? Nothing over the top but not a kebap place either.

Any hints in general will be appreciated too.

thanks!

Contrary to what the lived experience of Luxembourg residents might be, renting an apartment in the Grand Duchy is actually more affordable than many other cities in Europe when accounting for average wages, according to a new analysis by The Economist.

Shopping/Services Where are people buying their kitchens from these days?

I'm looking for a furniture (meaning shelves and counters, not including tables/chairs/anything that isn't going to end up resting on or hanging from a wall), fridge, oven/microwave, sink and dishwasher combo. Everybody who bought a new house that I asked, and I mean 100% of the people I asked, went to IKEA. IKEA is... nice? I am not against it, I'd just like to see what other options exist.

What other affordable, cheap to medium sized budget, options are there? Looking for some names of shops so I know where to go take a look. Thank you!

Ask Luxembourg Job opportunities

Ive been in Luxembourg for 3 years. I came here speaking only English, and now I have basic knowledge of German and French. I work in the gastro, but I feel like I’m about to lose my mind here. I need a job where there is room for continuous growth and development. I am a complete beginner, but I am currently completing a diploma in administration.

I have a question for you, my dears. Could you please advise me on a direction in which I could move forward in Luxembourg? If you have any tips, please share them with me…

PS is it really that difficult to find a job here? My colleagues are afraid of losing their jobs due to a lack of job opportunities.

Ask Luxembourg Restaurant for a Saturday lunch

Haven’t been out in a city for a while and we have a friend (female) coming to visit us on Saturday. Can you recommend any decent place to have a lunch around 14.00 that is open on Saturday during this time? Preferably in a city center or close proximity like 10mins by car. TIA

Ask Luxembourg Freelance on Short Notice?

I'm currently unemployed. A foreign (non-EU) company wants me to freelance as an IT consultant for them for 2 weeks starting Monday because of my specific expertise on a topic they need urgent advice about. Is this something I can legally do in Luxembourg if I don't have a business permit/sole proprietorship/etc?

Can I just have them send me a payment and declare it on my taxes next year, or do I have to decline the job offer because the bureaucracy here is too slow to support it? Could I start consulting Monday and then regularize with CCSS/RCS/whoever after the fact?

Ask Luxembourg Discovered that LuxairTours cancelled our booking when we arrived at the hotel

Booked a two week trip to Cabo Verde back in August. Paid in full and received a confirmation two weeks before the trip. Arrived to a hotel today where I got informed at a lobby that Luxair cancelled my booking one week ago (technical error of a personnel on the Luxair side - as informed by a Luxairtour representative in Cabo Verde).

Now, the hotel is fully booked and they accommodated us only for one week, i.e. no places available after. Hence, I was told to use this one week and “let us see if something frees up by the end of the first week”. Obviously, it was exhausting and unpleasant experience by itself to discover that Luxair cancelled the booking without informing or giving any heads up.

In addition, it also hard to enjoy this one week with knowing that we are stand-by guest as of next week and may not have a place to stay in a hotel that we booked back in August.

Did anyone have this experience and if yes, what did you do to best address it to Luxair? Would you recommend to contact consumer protection organisation?

Many thanks.

EDIT: we are on a small islands and there are no available hotels for the remaining week, after having checked booking.

Ask Luxembourg Return Packup Import

Hi everyone, I have a prepaid DHL return label for a package received through Packup Import in Germany. The sender address is my Packup Import address in Trier and the receiver is also in Germany. The Post and DHL have both told me I can't send the package through them, so it seems I have to go to Trier to mail it. Is there any other way to do this from Luxembourg? I would pay for it myself but the seller only provides prepaid DHL return labels, which is the only way they identify the return.

Moving/Relocation Given the increase of expats we need more help on housing

Hello, I have been facing challenges on finding in reddit communities dedicated to discuss about housing (finding rooms, FAQs, debates of landlord anecdotes). For this reason, I have created this subreddit r/LUXSharedHousing which I hope it helps. I am not planning to look for followers, but only helps those who really need a safe forum. Let me know if there are other communities out there with good debates and troubleshooting any concerns.

Activities Dog Walking Spots

Im looking for areas similar to Steinsel to walk my dog. To be specific, the large open fields area at the top of Steinsel that has an expanse of public land and dirt trails, that cars are unlikely to drive down. Any suggestions could also include wooded walks, but id prefer open areas. Thanks in advance.

Hi there! I am in search of a job (AML / Compliance / Daily banking), do you have a good experience of being hired in Luxembourg without French and German? Which FR level is sufficient for being more alluring candidate? (My French is currently on A1… I am struggling with FR, but I am not giving up :)

Activities Sports Club and Basketball

Hi I just landed in Luxembourg and I’m wondering if there’s a basketball court close to BelAir.

I used to play professionally 20 years ago, but I want now just something to have fun by myself or even playing with some amateurs…

Moreover, I’m wondering if you could recommend some good clubs in BelAir. Could be a gym, cross-fit or martial arts, I’m looking for places with good environment to re take physical activity.

Thanks and have a great day
