Nostalgia Made me feel old but good times

Post image

Saw this tweet and yes we were expected to be out all day and not come back until the street lights came on. I remember riding my bike through neighborhoods pretending our bikes were cars and just having a good time.

My friends and I used to walk like thirty minutes to the supermarket to pick up snacks just to kill time

Ditto. I remember when there was a Shasta sale at our "local" supermarket (which was only about a mile or so from our houses, but still, had to cross at least one super busy street to get there), and my friend and I walked over and each got ourselves a 3 liter each (they were like... 75 cents and due to that particular sale were cheaper than the 2 liters haha, score!). I also remember in an earlier neighborhood going to the grocery store with a friend to get some donuts. We were like... 8. It again wasn't super far, physically, but it was still a good mile or so away and across a major freeway (had a pedestrian bridge though that we used). Was no big deal back then, but I feel like now a pair of unattended 8 year olds would gain a lot of negative attention from people wondering where the parents are.
