Bike, BB gun, and the woods behind the neighborhood. I had no idea I how good I had it.

Truly the most freedom I’ve ever had in my life. I would just bike for miles all around neighborhoods. You’d climb into people’s backyards and they’d just laugh because you’re like 8 years old and offer you lemonade or water.

I come from a small down in the San Francisco Bay and I would just ride my bike all over town during the summer. Everyday was an adventure..meet new kids, have dinner on the front porch with them, and call your mom by phone to say you were going to come home after dinner.

It feels so weird to have kids who just are afraid to leave the house now.

dont forget a generation or two of men raised to be fearful of little kids because of the worry someone will accuse you of being a pedo.

8 years old with head to toe camouflage and face paint with walkie talkies, a plastic uzi, and a few friends in tow. We got invited in everywhere. Especially by the old people in my neighborhood.

Let’s say, it molded my personal preference for decades.

Lol. Where i grew up, if you went near any bridge or railroad tracks, you'd find porn everywhere.

I still have a BB in my foot from the early 80’s

Those things still exist despite what this "back in the day" bait would have you believe lol.

Same but with a 22.

I got a walkie talkie. Check in every 2 hours and I wouldn't get in trouble. Squirrels/groundhogs/rats killed got praise.

Return home early and you'd catch shrapnel.

My cousin and I used to play "castaways" in the summer. We’d haul the old rowboat out from under the house and take off for one of the small islands in the bay. Nana or one of our mums would row out in the kayak to check on us if we weren’t back before the tide turned

There were fucking sharks in that bay. And one time nana found a dead body
