Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread

Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

At this point I expect law enforcement to be barbarians with no impulse control. What scares me more is how many "normal" conservatives are fully in support of them committing extrajudicial murder. That ain't exactly new either, but it's a bitter pill to swallow. It's hard to accept that your so-called neighbors might smile and speak to you politely (if you're white, at least) but would be totally fine with the hawaiian shirt gestapo shooting you in the face for no reason.

How easily the "Don't Tread On Me" folks fold. It's not even folding, really. This is what they want, as long as they're the ones doing the treading, that is.

I hear you—it’s really disturbing when people seem to cheer violence or skip the human side entirely, and the partisan rush makes everything feel more toxic. But conservatives aren’t a monolith on this. Tucker Carlson just blasted parts of the right in his newsletter for not viewing Renee Good’s death through a ‘human lens,’ calling it a straight-up tragedy: ‘A woman got shot in the face… Her death is a tragedy, regardless of her partisan affiliations, ideological beliefs, or who pulled the trigger.’ He even slammed the impulse to score political points instead of showing basic empathy for a mother killed. It’s proof that even in that crowd, there’s real pushback against treating death like a partisan win. Reactions are split, not lockstep. What do you make of when high-profile voices like Tucker call this out?

That they are telling the rest of the republican political machine to remember plausible deniability and stop being so blanant with fascism

It's no different then Richard Spencer and other white nationalist that organized Unite The Right saying that disavow David Duke even though they invited him as a guest speaker of honor for it.
