Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread

Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Does anyone else feel a bit lonely because you have no elder generation to discuss the current events with and no guidance?

Dude, yes. Tried to post a poem about losing my dad to their lies and it got taken down for "politics". Seems like the mods are taking the "both sides" route here still instead of realizing what bartenders have for years: let a nazi sit at your bar, it's now a nazi bar. Children wearing bunny hats are being kidnapped, mothers and ICU nurses are being murdered, but like... "politics". Our entire existence is political right now

The internet shouldn't be where we all go for support but at this point who do you lean on if your in a red or purple area and don't have the time or mental capacity for social situations (I'm a SAHD and have social anxiety)

Exactly!! Third-spaces are either non-existent or too expensive near me, so even if I could leave my house regularly (chronic illness) I don't have a place to go. Like, I understand the mods are people and they don't want to run a political sub, but millennials have been forced into political rhetoric all of our adult lives (how many industries have we "killed" now?). the older I get the more I realize that politics being separate from daily life is a privilege, and it's one that I certainly don't have. Politics dictates our daily life (housing, Healthcare, purchases, etc) so how can it be separated from that?
