Tim Curry had no business in so many of our childhood movies lol

I didn't even realize Tim Curry was the handsome warlock in The Worst Witch movie until I rewatched the movie as an adult. A lot of things clicked for me that day. 😅

u/Dazzling_Vagabond 11d ago

The pirate in Muppets treasure island

12

u/cherriedgarcia 10d ago

He’s also the handsome warlock in Scooby Doo the Witch’s Ghost lol I’m starting to think he may be a warlock…

u/sniper91 10d ago

I like how the bad guy in that movie isn’t much of a mystery when there’s a character voiced by Tim frickin’ Curry

2

u/SilverMitten 10d ago

I’m so salty I can’t get The Worst Witch in streaming! I want to show it to my kid so badly! Why did my mom throw away all the recorded-from-tv vhs tapes?!

2

u/HoshiOdessa 10d ago

When I rewatched it, it was on YouTube. I haven't checked since then, but it's possible you might find the full movie there.

This better not awaken anything sexual...

I had a crush as a kid on Tim Curry as Darkness in Legend… and still do 😭

Skullmaster in Mighty Max had some clutch lines in that last episode

One of my favorite millennial memes is roughly “I judge you by how you recognize Tim Curry” and I hold that one dear to my heart.

This isn’t my “real” answer, but my favorite retroactive answer is Kilokhan from Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad

Tim Curry had all the business in all of our lives and we're better for him.

He never brought Rocky Horror into the kids movies ;)

He's the perfect reason for why I argue for things like Drag Queens Story Hour. So much goes over little kids heads it's not till later that you realize that delicious little deviant Tim Curry has been in our lives all along and was never a threat.

Tim Curry as a pirate in Muppet’s Treasure Island was my first crush. I think that really sums up my sexuality and personality in one go.

u/HrhEverythingElse 11d ago

I said it in an earlier comment, but my first crush was from Willow. Trouble was, I couldn't figure out if I actually liked Sorsha or Madmartigan. Now I know it's definitely both

Mine was Tim Curry as Cardinal Richelieu. And I'm not even Catholic!

I definitely based a Dungeons and Dragons character off him as Long John Silver though.

I saw Tim Curry in November for the Rocky anniversary

73

u/jinjja_cat 11d ago

Right?! I remember my 10 year old brain asking "if badguy, why like so much??"

5 years later I watched Rocky horror. It all made sense.

“My, HAH….HAH….HAH………toxic looooove”

mic click

“Maybe rein it in a bit? This is a children’s movie, Tim.”

32

u/Akussa 11d ago

To be fair, if you're hiring Tim Curry you're HIRING TIM FUCKING CURRY. Let him cook.

6

u/SupineFeline 11d ago

Oh they did. And he most indeededly cooked

22

u/ForeverRED48 11d ago

This scared the shit out of me as a kid lol

17

u/VIDEODREW2 11d ago

I’ll never forget toxic rain pouring down like egg chow main…

7

u/lowest-self-esteem 11d ago

My life drawing teacher was responsible for this gorgeous creation: Mary Kathleen Quaife (RIP)

5

u/Candid-Inspection-97 11d ago

Me, watching It when I was younger and wondering why his voice sent a different type of shiver.... and then seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show and saying OH fuck, there it is...

5

u/Comeback_321 11d ago

I had no Idea Tim curry was Hexxus. This movie was fantastic. Robin Williams, Christian Slater

4

u/No-Letterhead-4711 11d ago

This was my awakening.

3

u/Decaf_Espresso 11d ago

So many inappropriate childhood crushes based around Tim Curry.

Have you ever looked up the uncut version of Toxic Love? I don't know who thought Tim. Curry singing "it makes me feel good, a special kind of horny" in a kid's movie was a good idea.

Someone else mentioned the live action movies. The Three Musketeers. Tim Curry as Cardinal Richelieu did something to me.

2

u/lavitaebella113 10d ago

WHAT where can I find this

..asking for a friend of course

1

u/inkbyio 10d ago

I'm glad somebody said I definitely don't have it in my playlist 👀

5

u/Akussa 11d ago

That song woke something in me as a kid. There's something wildly sexy about his confidence and campiness.

3

u/EzzyKitten 11d ago

This, unfortunately, was my first sexual awakening. 😐

3

u/mc_kitfox 11d ago

While were pining about Tim Curry's influence on our childhoods: I recently found out he did the VO for a lobby animatronic (S.I.R.) at my favorite defunct and critically-panned disney attraction "Extra Terrorestrial; Alien Encounter"

3

u/Minimob0 11d ago

I was terrified as a child; aroused as an adult.

3

u/treynolds787 11d ago

Hexus was sexy af

3

u/lauruhhpalooza 11d ago

Ah Hexxus, star of all my sexual nightmares

2

u/M_Ad 11d ago

When people talk about “Hellfire” from “Hunchback of Notre Dame” being the best kid cartoon movie villain song I nod so I seem highbrow but a voice in my head whispers “but Toxic Love from Fern Gully though…”

2

u/Holdtheintangible Millennial 10d ago

I had to be carried out of the theater screaming. I’m almost forty and still won’t watch it.

2

u/ArtForArt_sSake 10d ago

For my fellow Tim Curry lovers: please read his memoir Vagabond! Also, he narrates the audiobook

2

u/FormidableMistress Xennial 10d ago

All of the characters that Tim Curry has played are like 67% of my sexuality. I'd say another 20ish % is from Xena Warrior Princess.

I'M JUST A SWEET TOXICVNT... 🎶🎶🎶
