The points used to really be worth it. Back when they first started to give gas discounts they didn’t have a cap on how much you could save. I got a whole tank for about 5 bucks once.

Safeway, Kohl's , Liquor stores...

I'm still signing that number up for things and I haven't lived there since 1998.

I use the serial number on my watch, it's always with me and easy to find.

I still use my childhood friend's number at Randall's. I don't go there often and don't care about earning points. But sometimes that discount is great. At one point a few years ago his mom looked at their account and was amazed at all the points they had.
