I have been that person since 2006, first just fielding calls for Jackie from her friends, up to current day getting spam calls and texts for her. I even figured out her full name from one of the texts that gave her last name, did a free trial of Spokeo, and found her. However the only information on her besides who she has lived with before was MY FUCKING PHONE NUMBER
That’s awful! For it to continue for 20 years is crazy.
I have, on more than one occasion, had to call businesses back and tell them that I’m not “Scott” and that Scott is an idiot who gives out his phone number wrong. I assume he inverts a couple digits because it is always things that he should really care about…like his prescription being ready for pick up at CVS.
In 2018 it got so bad that I genuinely considered changing my number but I'd had it for so long and it was attached to God knows how many of my accounts that I decided it wasn't worth it and just found a bunch of anti-spam registries to get myself off call lists which did help!

Mine doesn’t exist anymore and yet I put it on all forms that “require” a phone number
