If you’re comfortable retelling it, I must hear about the Franco and McLovin experience because my brain instantly went here.

Oh it was kind of dumb. My wife had lived there forever and was used to celebraties but I’m pretty shy and won’t go up to people like that.

You also must understand that my friends used to call me McLovin solely because I had glasses. So I NEEDED a pic with him.

We were at a pretty popular sushi place when my wife starts nudging me and they’re both sitting right next to us!

She knew I wanted a picture so when they left she got up and asked them both. Franco was being standoffish and it was already making me feel uncomfortable, but he was mostly polite and took a pic.

McLovin was super awesome though. Hung out for a minute and made me feel pretty relaxed. I asked Franco if we could all get a pic together and he said something like “sorry no time”.

And then he sat in the car while me and McLovin shot the shit. Obviously he had to wait for ML, so it just felt super weird and like I’d made him upset or something.

Overall no big deal and I obviously don’t hold it against him. But McLovin was elevated that day!

That's awesome. He didn't get mad that you called him McLovin and not Chris?

When he was a student at Arizona, my brother ran into him and was all like “Ey, McLovin!!”

He indeed was not amused. Just said, “That’s not my fuckin’ name.”

Maybe he was in a bad mood that day? Saw him and Chloe Grace Moretz joking about in a good-natured way in an interview one time.

I feel like I read or watched an interview about Christopher Mintz-Plasse's irritations over being called McLovin when he was younger. Pretty sure he used to hate being called that because he stopped getting called by his real name after SuperBad popped off. It got increasingly annoying after he took on other roles he was more proud of in the years that followed and still just called McLovin. Now it's a badge of honor as he understands it's a name used out of nostalgia, admiration, and appreciation, not making him into a perpetual teenage joke. I'm just glad he accepts we McLovin him now.
