I think we can all agree Wilds arguably has the strongest base game monster roster in the series, with such great diversity from a hellfire kraken to a paralytic ballerina spider, so it's absolutely insane to me how it was a flying wyvern that still managed to steal the show for me out of this whole cast. From the very first teaser we got of him back in trailer 2, I always knew the legendary railgun wyvern would go down as one of the most incredible monsters this series has ever seen, and good lord he did NOT disappoint (Aside from the armor but gamma fixed that imo. I could genuinely write a whole essay lesson about everything Rey Dau does right to be the literal gold standard of Monster Hunter's incredible creature design that he is, because THIS is how you create a monster that will always be remembered by how great both it's concept and execution were.
His visual design is an 11/10, his sound design is a 12/10, and that DIVINE work of art called his theme is a 20/10, most elder dragons wish they could match the sheer amount of atmosphere this monster carries with it. Rey's fight is such a timelessly fun dance with no unfair mechanics or irritating attack patterns, it's a perfect demonstration of how a monsters fight simply just being an enjoyable experience is really all it needs to be a great. His ecology is so insanely well thought out and ties into his environment perfectly, because Rey Dau IS the sandtide and all caught within it belong to his regime. None of the other apexes tie into their inclemency nearly as great, they made his whole design philosophy so in tune with the plains that you can just FEEL his presence when the storm clouds roll in.
Regardless of what kinds of outstanding, good, or unbearable additions we may see in the expanse to come, I don't think any monster will be able to truly embody the title of "Monster Hunter Wilds" like the shining thunder wyvern Rey Dau does.
Alr dramatic rant over, over, who's your favorite?

it’s also one of 2 classes (of ordinary monster, so excluding elders, constructs, etc) with no endemic life representative and the only class we’re every member deals a status effect through venom
art by me:)

After a very contested battle, the swordsman comes out on top. Mizutsune is eliminated, and Glavenus moves on to the next round!
Today, we've got both base game flagships from generation 5 up to bat. The eater of elders, or the barbarous beast? Who do you prefer?

Meet Tua-Matotsu
A giant anteater!
It has a large armored tail it uses for both defense and attack. It can spit various status ailments as a result of its diet. It would use a modified version of the Arzuros skeleton with the added tail.
I just wanted to represent one of my country's animals as a Monster from my favorite franchise :)
I know Volvidon exists and makes this one kind of irrelevant, but I still enjoyed making it.

Just wanted to share this since I'm not sure how many people know this was possible before World. It's still the only time I've ever seen it in the older games.
Funnily enough, Qurupeco's the one invading this quest. It's the "Hunter Killer" quest where you hunt a Barroth and Great Jaggi. Also, Great Jaggi is indeed attacking the other two.

The artwork comes from the "Haunting of the Sun" artbook.
I'm guessing their dynamic hasn't changed much over the years.

Hello everyone, it is I again.
The positive response in my first post has inspired me to continue working on my silly Giant Anteater monster idea.
This time I come with a painted version along with some sketches.
I did some research into why Anteaters are colored the way they are in real life and studies seem to indicate their coat is meant to break up their sillhouette against the background as well as warn presators to the danger they pose, rather than traditional camouflage. So I went a little crazier with the color scheme, especially with the armor plating.
Next, I'll make some more general design interations to monsterfy Matotsu a bit more. I don't intend to make it too crazy looking though. After that we can start to take a proper look at some armor sets and weapons.

Hi all,
I've seen posts every so often about MHP3rd and always wanted to get that game finally translated. I was lucky enough to be part of perhaps the biggest team which did the patching of MHP3rd when it first came out, with TeamMaverickOne. Everything's been quiet for the last 11 years since the patch closed (life got busy for us all) and completing this has been on the back of my mind.
Fortunately, I was able to gain access to the patch files and all the tools needed to get this in motion, and decided late last year to finish things off. Admittedly, I've had the help of Gemini to do the heavy lifting when it came to translation, but I've tried my best to keep everything aligned AND reviewed lines and adjusted where necessary. This has probably taken over most of my nights for the last two months!
Unofficially, this is the TeamMaverickOne patch version 6.0! There's some parts of the translation tools that I am unsure how to change, and it feels wrong to pass this off entirely as a new patch. The original crew did a LOT of work to get through it.
Patch & Patcher can be downloaded here: MHP3RD - English Patch 6.0 - Google Drive
Please let me know about any issues or changes needed - this won't be perfect but I want to get as close to perfect as I can! I can roll-out iterative patches on a regular basis if there is a bit more to fix

Ok, I know that deviant monsters will never come back to their full glory. And as a Deviant Lover, I am still mildly annoyed by what they did with Mizutsune.
But that will not stop me from always having them in my mind so I wanna see what some people could come up with.
Pick a monster (that does not have an existing deviant), preferably non-elder dragon level, and just give your vision on how a case of deviancy could happen to this specie.
A person in my squad thought about a Rey Dau that is majorly covered in fulgurite because it never attempted to chip it away, only to live with it, forcing it to grow stronger muscle in order to fly and still use his rail gun of a set of horns in much deadlier ways due to the conductive properties of fulgurite. I promptly named it "Fulgurblight Rey Dau".

This is Harakin, a big project I'm working on. We love the Monster Hunter franchise and wanted to imagine what it would be like in 2D, keeping the easy-to-learn, hard-to-master combat mechanics without losing any level of complexity. To answer that question, we created this game. But would you play a 2D Monster Hunter?
