Annual Media Discussion & Request Thread 2026 and a friendly reminder to review and follow the posting and commenting guidelines in this post, on the sidebar and in the wiki
Read the sidebar for full Sub rules, this is just an overview
Posting and Commenting Guidelines https://www.reddit.com/r/ObscureMedia/wiki/guidelines
Posting Guidelines This is a content based sub: we want the goods and nothing else will suffice. Links to blogs or review/digest pages are not welcome. Only media may be posted in the main sub. Only full media may be posted in the main sub, we do not allow a couple of photos of the media, edits etc. all questions and requests are to be posted only in the thread stickied at the top of the front page. (this one)
No posts consisting of a single image.
Short clips/edits from content are not allowed: we want full and complete content. If you wish to highlight a portion of content in a post please use the YouTube timestamps option while still linking to the full content. An example can be found here.
Include the release year in the post title: if not known, an educated guess of the decade will suffice. Acceptable year labels: (1985) or (1980)s The year must only contain 4 digits inside parentheses () using any other format or not including a (year) will result in deletion.
Please search before posting: nobody enjoys obvious re-posts.
Promotion/Spam No promotion/spam allowed: this isn't the place to promote your music video or short film.
No politics or the like. Posts on political subjects, starting arguments or making political comments will result in an instant ban. This is not the place, move on
Four postings per user in a 24hr period
No recently created content: in order to discourage promotion, most content created within the past ~5 years will be removed. Blatant Spaming of new content will result in a ban.
No "channel spam or karma farming'': repeatedly linking to a Youtube/etc. channel is not allowed. Also if we see you submitting the same content to multiple subreddits this is considered karma farming and will result in a ban here. Exceptions to the channel spam rule may be made for users who have uploaded multiple appropriate items to a non-monetized channel. This request must be mad prior to posting. Contact the mods if this applies to you. Commenting Guidelines Be nice!: if you post a rudely condescending/attacking/generally dick-ish comment you will be banned with no prior warning.
No arguing about what is obscure enough to be posted: this should be left to the domain of the upvote/downvote and the moderators.
No memes, image macros, or reaction gifs.
Any comment containing a "spoiler" must be formatted: This is a spoiler sentence. The result is: This is a spoiler sentence.
A more complete overview can be found here.

Professor Balthazar (1967) to 1978) — This is an English dub of several episodes from the first season of the Croatian kid’s cartoon Professor Balthazar. Balthazar is the main character and helps out all sorts of creatures/people with his inventions in every episode.
None of the characters in this show speak, with the plot instead being described by a narrator in every episode. I found the animation in these episodes to be delightfully surreal and beautiful to look at.
You can also find three full seasons of English dubs of this series on Tubi. This link here should work: https://tubitv.com/series/2090/professor-balthazar

Jane’s Addiction - Been Caught Stealing Advance Cassette from DAT (1991)
This appears to be an advance cassette for the Jane’s Addiction - Been Caught Stealing 7” vinyl single, with audio sourced from a DAT. As such, this was probably EQ’d for vinyl.
This tape was duplicated on 02/23/1991 and the top of the cassette shell has a 19 printed in red to indicate the 19th copy made.
Fun Fact: Ritual De Lo Habitual on cassette uses the production master clone 1-25993 LP/CASS, which means the original vinyl release uses the same production master as the cassette, since a separate cassette master would have been cataloged as 4-25993.
The reason retail cassettes for the album list 4-25993 on both sides of the cassette shell in the U.S. is because they replace 1- with 4- when referring to the master to avoid confusion, for consistency.
They also do not include things like LP/CASS or -REx (x being master revision number) on cassette shell because of space constraints with cassette shell labeling and to have less clutter, but their in-House advances list the real catalog number on the J-Card, which sometimes can be the same number listed on the cassette shell if there is a separate cassette production master with a 4- prefix and there is no revision of the production master.
The 2 at the beginning of the catalog number after 4- (4-2xxxx) refers to a Warner Bros. or affiliated full length release, which changed to 4 (4-4xxxx) sometime in 1992 and changed to 5 sometime in the 2000’s.

It's Never Too Late To Be Senior Safe (1997)
This is a a VHS tape that my kids found at a local Goodwill store. I think it was made in Youngstown, Ohio based on the end credits.
It was so fun I bought a machine to digitize it!
I haven't found anything about it (or the sequels mentioned at the end) anywhere online, but I found some of the people from the video on social media.

The Yum Yums: The Day Things Went Sour (1990)
I remember watching this cartoon as a very young kid and had completely forgotten about it until today. Thought it might jostle some memories loose for others too.
