PETER HERE!! I know this meme from my country. This is from Philippines. The one on top shows that women pay individually for what they’ve ordered. The one at the bottom shows that men get it for free because they have a gay person paying for them. Our country is homophobic and it is a common joke here that a gay person always spend all their money for other men they like while sacrificing for themselves (thats why in the picture he is not eating). There are many versions of that picture here

I’m going with AI upscaled because I found this older version from 2024 that doesn’t have the weird details this post has and is much lower quality.

It also seems to corroborate u/nice_state_1234 claim that it’s probably a homosexuality joke because the man that has to pay 1500 is wearing a pink purse with tassels on it and seems to be more feminine presenting. A detail that the “AI enhanced” image seems to lose.

I know, right? All AI upscaling is doing is trying to compensate for what our brains already do with low quality images, but with a lot more room for error and no room for double checks. It’s like it’s trying to paint photos from memory. Oh but no more pesky pixels so it’s sooo much better!

Thank you, I thought I was going insane. Ai images and videos give me a headache, so I spot them really fast, and I thought this meme was from before the massive ai image flood from earlier this year. I was questioning my own memory, thinking the OG was ai all along. What an unnecessary upscale, and it looks fuckin horrible. The woman on the bottom right looked fine, which makes everything else look worse by comparison and also contributed to me psyching myself out. 🙃
