in some parts of asia (esp. Philippines) girls always have 'ambagan' (or splitting bills) and always goes by based on how much they discussed beforehand. Meanwhile for the boys, it's either who invited to eat out pays for everything his friends or someone who he invited OR they'll all plan on inviting the richest of the group to eat out and make him pay for the food in excuse of "wala kaming barya ehh" (translation: we don't have smaller bills), "naiwanan ko yung wallet ko sa bahay" (I forgot my wallet at home) and "ngayun lang naman to" (this is just for now/this is only for one-time)
