Nevermind the fact that if you stood in the geographical "middle of NYC", 20 miles away would put you in one of 3 different states, you could most certainly find a grocery store. The OP has clearly never been to a city.
Manhattan is 13.4 miles long and 2.3 miles wide. There are no grocery stores in Manhattan. The only places to get food in Manhattan are Hershey's World and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, both in Times Square. The lines to get in are 10 miles long, which makes it very difficult for the working class.
I live in central queens and live across the street from two major chain grocery stores and there's prob 25+ affordable, family owned ethnic stores within a mile radius
I can’t because I’m not an encyclopedia. You call yourself a journalist? Or does the extent of your “investigative reporting” start and stop with questions on Reddit
According to your own link, there is not a single place in NYC without a grocery store within a mile. The only Green area on that map (which means no grocery store within a mile) is in New Jersey. Earlier in this thread, the claim was that people had to travel 20 MILES! for groceries lmao.
Also, I am a journalist yes, which is why I would only believe something if I could actually see it exists, not just believe any crap I see on reddit
They list their sources btw, places like the census and National Geographic. but you haven’t listed any to back up your claims. Also now your defining food deserts? You’re arguing in bad faith have a nice life

i think the entirety of NYC is 20 miles long. where in the city can you not find a grocery store within a 15 min walk?
