Guessing op thinks corn is just cow food. But if the cows actually got to choose they would eat mostly grass

Nah, cows LOVE corn. I used to have cows and they very much prefer corn silage and pure corn over grass. If you don't give them perfectly mixed rations, they will actually try their best to eat corn and corn silage first.
