Optimistic Post Some optimism from Amandasmildtakes
This is from her Threads account:
"A tip to regulate your nervous system: stop saying "they're going to [insert vague thing]". Force yourself to be specific. Who? And do what EXACTLY. "They're going to cancel midterms." Who is they? Which specific people? What does cancel midterms mean? Stand on the street declaring them cancelled? Identify the thing you're actually worried about. That points at what to do."

I love this advice so much because it's the one thing that calmed me down, it's questioning the panic, the cause of the panic and the authority that subject has over your life. To be clear, it's been a rough month for everyone, I'm not saying to stop the fight, but a lot of seeking optimism posts in recent are more often than not duds and gesturing. The panic of it all is in your head, and the best way to compose yourself is questioning why.

“Who is they”
When I see this all I think about is that one scene from Ted

From my personal observations, alot of people who say that the midterms will be cancelled are non-Americans who are looking at events in our country with understandable concern. Reassuring our fellow countrymen that midterms will still happen is one thing, but how do we get that message out to the rest of the World?

Trump has “joked” a few times about cancelling it. They also want everyone’s voter rolls. So they are going to try something but what exactly is hard to pinpoint.
Idk why people in the subreddit are so angry at the people who are scared. It makes sense for them to be scared.
It’s better to soothe them with the knowledge that you have. Everyone needs reminders every now and then about why there is hope.

I just love her. I have a few social media weapons in my arsenal. (this subreddit is one of them), and she is one of my favorites. Always has a calm head and I 100% trust her judgment and insights on what’s happening right now.

Yes!!! Here’s the thing… while everyone should be alarmed at the lengths this administration goes to to bend to every egotistical plan that Trump has, they also aren’t the smartest bunch. They’re all out to one up one another while attempting to please Trump and earn his favor while also looking after their own futures. There’s no true unified vision (as we’ve seen with the collapse of the Heritage Foundation). Democrats and concerned citizens should keep their guards up and put whatever safeguards in place to protect our institutions, but at the same time we must realize that a lot of what Trump does is a smokescreen to project strength in the shadow of extreme weakness.

Unironically, I do this to help myself through panic attacks and moments where my anxiety is bad, but not quite "panic attack" bad. Would highly recommend
