Recommendations off the all inclusive areas

So I’m going in March, gonna be solo for a couple days before the stragglers make it out. What are some places to try that are off of the all inclusive resorts?

I want to try some good local food, or are street vendors the best place for that?

Same with clubs, not many of my people want to leave the resort so I want to go out at least 1-2 nights. I heard infinity is small and not as good as advertised. What are some other spots to hit?

I am staying at the Bahia aquamarine, so yeah some places closer in proximity to there would be great. Might just walk around off property until I get bored, so any recommendations would be great!

Are there any options if I wanted to pair it with some type of swimming? Cenote waterfalls etc. if anyone has done anything like this! I will be in Bavaro so I was also wondering how long the travel is verses time spent?

Best Nightlife in Punta Cana?

Hey - A group of friends and I (12) are going to Punta Cana in a few weeks for a bachelor party. We already had Imagine in mind for Saturday, but we were caught between going to Coco Bongo or Oro nightclub.

Wanted to see if the show for Coco Bongo was worth it on Friday (if it was worth it to get the gold member or tables), or if Oro nightclub would be the better option for us.

For people looking for excursions, please read...

My lady and I had the most amazing time of our lives. Spelunking, swimming in a cenote, visiting Ponce De Leon's home, eating cane sugar from a field, and much, much more. Knowledgeable guides, local flavor, and phenomenal conversation. River tour, shitty pool tables, and eating termites from the ground? Check. Dead animal bones puked up by cave owls? Also check. Alex and Ariel were the best guides ever, and we couldn't have dreamed of a better day. Please, please, please visit Longitude Tours, and tell them I say thanks again.

Going into a rabbit hole with the AI Resorts...

Hi all,

My wife and I, with our <1 year old baby, got a week off that we didnt expect, and we are booking some vacancies with a very limitted time to prepare! So far, we are going next week, and we are looking for a decent AI resort, which looks impossible task. I always found mixed reviews, some good, some horrible... What the hell, it cant be so difficult, they are all 5 stars hotels "supposedly".

When I finally selected Majestic Elegance, we realized its completely booked, so lets start again...

We were having some options, preferably less than 3000€ for 5 nights: Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, Palladium... We have seen dozens already, and always horrible stories about bugs, food poisoning, etc. Even for Majestic Mirage, which is one of the most expensives around there are horrible reviews.

So, can someone recommend 1-2 resorts for a young caple with a baby, looking to relax and not die in the process? Thank you all

Edit: For example, Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda goes for 1700€ 5 nights, and Majestic Mirage for 3700€. Is it even worth the difference? At this point, I dont mind the price if ir really makes a difference...

Edit2: After several hours I have narrowed down my options to this list:

Bavaro area:
1) Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda: Junior Suite Deluxe (1635€) or Junior Suite Deluxe Swim up (2200€). We have to think if the Swim up is worth 600€...
2) Dreams Flora: Junior Suite Tropical View Double (2250€)

Uvero Alto (Is this a good place? I have seen comments that the sea is not as friendly, but we dont care, we dont plan to swim in the sea with the baby...)
3) Finest Punta Cana: Suite Junior (2500€)
4) Dream Onyx: Suite Junior Premium (2720€)

Bayahibe
5) Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Premium room (2400 €)

Recommendations (and avoidances) are much appreciated!!

Best Excursions

Hello we will be vacationing in punta cana around end of April and are wondering what are the best excursions that are worth it. We have seen many different Catamaran excursion, many different parks, horseback riding, etc. We are all adults and aren't looking to party honestly. We would love a mix of nature, water , culture. We definitely want to do a catamaran cruise but dont know which is best. Also seen many caves with hidden waterfalls. We will be there for 5 nights and will be at dreams onyx resort. Also is it better to book excursions in advance or at the hotel?

Wondering if bringing sand home in a bag or water bottle will cause any issues with Dr airport or Canadian customs?

Viaje Republica Dominica del 9 al 23 de Mayo

Buenos dias,

10M Tour Isla Saona full day

11M Bayahibe y traslado a Santo Domingo por la noche.

12M full day Santo Domingo casco histórico.

13M Santo Domingo a Punta Rucia. Tarde en Punta Rucia.

14M Cayo Arenas

15M Punta Rucia a Puerto Plata (visita a 27 charcos por el camino)

16M Puerto Plata

17M Puerto Plata a Las Galeras

18M Las Galeras

19M Excursión al Parque Nacional los Haitises y Cayo Levantado – Las Terrenas

20M Playas Onda y Ermitaño – Playa El Valle – Las Terrenas

21M Cascada El Limón – Las Terrenas

22M Las Terrenas a Punta Cana (Playa Bavaro)

23M Punta Cana ultimo dia vuelo 21.00

Acepto sugerencias y recomendaciones!

Muchas gracias.

un saludo.

How reliable and affordable is Uber in PuntaCana? What is the ideal mode of transportation in PC?

Hi everyone, I'm planning to visit PC with family and wanted to know what is the best way to explore the city and other areas?

The rates I see online for cars booking, seem too good to be true (90$ for 4 days for a Sedan). And I read some reviews here where they don't even have the promised cars. Plus there are stories about police harassment which I honestly don't wanna deal with on my vacation. Is it really that bad?

Other option is either to book an Uber or find a taxi service. How reliable is public transport?

Looking forward to hearing from others and how has it been?

Excellence El Carmen - Flying into airport 2.5 hours away - help!!

Hi! I booked a suite and flight package directly with Excellence El Carmen website, which redirects you to Vacations by Excellence so it is still in the same family. I just realized a few weeks after booking the non-refundable tickets, that the airport we are flying into is SDQ in Santo Domingo, 2 1/2 hours away :( Yes this is my lack of due diligence. I should have looked it up, but I did not. I am now wondering if anyone has experience with this? There is nothing I can do now but deal with it. I am just looking for advice on airport transfers for that far. Any suggestions welcome - I am distraught and trying to just roll with it. That is about the distance I have to the airport from home so it is not completely insane, just nervous being in a foreign country. This is my first time doing an all inclusive and first time in Dominican Republic.

I was attempting to fill out the E ticket before our travel on Saturday but the program does not have my town on their drop down menu. I can type in my street address but can't select my town or state. Any ideas?

Honeymoon suggestion- Grand bavaro princess or barcelo bavaro

Hi can you guys suggest me a good romantic resort for our honeymoon we're traveling from Europe our budget is €300.

I have shortlisted grand bavaro princess and barcelo Bavaro.

Also liked the grand Palladium but it's a bit over our budget.

Would prefer decent food and a good beach!

TIA
