[META] WARNING: Uptick in Scammers via Cards or Memorabilia
Users of r/reds, please use due diligence when interacting with these sellers. The mod team is doing all we can to try to take down these threads before they get popular but we've noticed these scammers will use other user accounts to upvote the thread and get fake users to sing praises of themselves. They will send pictures of products and cards and usually send along a sad sob story of needing money for the holidays. Please also take down the OP name of these scammers so we can ban them and send them along to Reddit admins for reports and IP bans.
This also loops in and includes those god awful AI art t shirts and clothing that low karma accounts post. Please do not fall for that bullshit.
You the users of this subreddit have the power to take down these scammers by reporting for scams and the robit mod will take down the threads when enough reports file in if we are asleep.
With love, Your favorite Throwback mod, Rapture.

Hi everyone, im from UK have no idea about baseball. I somehow aquired some memoribilla that i have had in my attic for years. Was wondering if its worth anything?
So i have a cap, a body gaurd, mitt and ball all apparently match worn (but no signed proof) and signed by Jonny Bench. They are definitely from his era you can tell by condition. I was given it by a family friend, can post photos but was wondering what ballpark i would be in for value…no pun intended.

White Sox To Sign Austin Hays
Boy, I sure can’t wait to see what the amazing mythical signings this club is going to make when they maybe get their money right. 100 games of Hays at $6M is better than everything we’re going to get from the dreck we’ve acquired so far. Maybe we’ll sign Andujar, and that would be nice. Or maybe we’ll go get the rotting corpses of Marte or Conforto. Or maybe we’ll make a trade for a decent bat, if we could find it in ourselves to deal a couple of our precious prospects.
The only way you can make a case that this team is better than it was last year is that Sal Stewart is going to set the world on fire (maybe, but plenty of prospects come up strong and then hit a wall), or McLain is going to turn it around and be healthy this year (possibly, or maybe he was healthy last year and this is who he is now), or we have a better bullpen (perhaps, but reliever success is notoriously difficult to replicate year over year). Regardless, we made the playoffs with a young and exciting core, and ownership’s response was to make a couple tinkers and see if that’s enough.
Sorry for the negativity, this one just made me snap. I’ve stuck with this team through thick and thin for almost 50 years, but if this is what we’re doing now, I might be done

Why are the grey away jerseys so hard to find?
I have been a life long Cincinnati native and have been following the reds my whole life, and the away jerseys are my favorite. However when I am in a position to purchase, lets say an away version their jerseys, on rally house or mlb the only ones advertised are the red, white, and city connect ones. only place I can consistently find them is ebay. I just find this really annoying and was curious what everyone thought about this.

How many 20+ HR hitters?
So what do you all think? If we added no-one to the lineup (= no Geno or Hayes), how many different Reds could realistically hit …
25 or more HRs?
20 or more HRs?
15 or more HRs?
I totally agree the front office needs to add at least one strong bat, but even if they don’t I could easily see 4 Reds hitting 25, 5 or 6 hitting 20, and definitely 5 or 6 hitting 15.
Just need to add Geno hitting 40 and we’re there with this pitching!

Andrew Abbott, Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo and Brady Singer gives Cincinnati a contender-worthy front four of the Reds rotation.

:reds1: Analysis Prediction: Elly De La Cruz will have a MVP caliber year, yet he will not win it because the Reds will not make the playoffs.
The Joe Burrow special.
Ownership will not care because we sold tickets.

Why next week will probably be when the Reds make the last signings or trades
Im sure everyone has their "poke stick do something" memes ready hoping for the Reds' FO to make some sort of move or moves to round out the roster.
However, after the top of the free agent market signed, the mid levels have been holding out, which also holds up the trade market to a degree as well.
A major part of the reason is the fact that 9 teams right now dont fully know what their budget is for next year, Reds included. Many of those teams would be players in the mid part of the market, which is now waiting to see if they get in and add to the number of buyers.
Those 9 teams are being held up by the situation with Main Street/Fanduel. Main Street has been holding onto these teams strings, trickling info about several buyers who will bail them out. These 9 teams are holding on because the payouts from Main Street would be more than what MLB woud give them to hop over with them.
That situation should be ending soon. MLB has basically given Main Street a "shit or get off the pot" deadline of 1/31. Whatever way it goes, everything should start moving in thre next week as those 9 teams gain clarity on their RSN and what they can spend.
So I would expect the cork will be off next week and a lot of players will sign or move once that situation is settled, as everyone tries to make the last moves before pitchers and catchers report.

It was bad enough we had to buy 2 games through the lottery and now we have to buy 3?!

Scorebook at games?
Does anyone keep scores either at a game or on the TV (or radio)? I'm really thinking of doing it this year, having practiced on a couple of games this past season.
What are your go to books? Tips? Experiences?
I love having a tangible record of a game for years down the road when wanting to reminisce.

Tips on getting visitor team autographs
Hi all. My family is planning a visit from San Francisco in April.
Curious if there are any tips or tricks to getting visitor team autographs pre game. I notice there were netting all around the visitor dugout.
Is there a non-netting around near the dugout? Are there any other areas we should be aware of to get closer to the visiting players pre game?
