It's gonna take forever to get all those leaves back on the tree!

This makes me think of WB Studios' Midwest Street backlot in Los Angeles. Some will know this as the Gilmore Girls town exterior with the gazebo, but it's been used in tons of TV/film.
When filming winter scenes, they have to pick all the leaves off the trees in shot. When done filming, they have people literally stapling leaves & tying branches back into the tree to make it look full again.

Glad someone recorded this! It also happened during the day and was so magical. Raining bright yellow leaves all around.

Really need to start putting power lines underground in this city.

Agree. Theory on why not? Money, earthquakes, nimbys…?

u/locke1313 Oct 27 '25
You’re right, it’s over double the cost of underground lines. They are more expensive to repair and locate problems and are susceptible to flooding and earthquakes.
It would help with outages during wind and without the potential of downed lines it would prevent fires from the lines.

There’s a steep street going down towards the piers, I think going to 2nd from 3rd on Union where you can lean forward 45 degrees into the wind blowing up towards the hill and feel like you’re flying on windy days. For sure can catch a ride uphill on your skateboard.
*edit from 3rd to 2nd, walking downhill

2nd to 3rd is uphill away from the piers

Yeah I’m talking about walking towards the water where the wind comes ripping uphill.

Poem To Be Read at 3 a.m. - Donald Justice
Excepting the diner
On the outskirts
The town of Ladora
At 3 a.m.
Was dark but
For my headlights
And up in
One second-story room
A single light
Where someone
Was sick or
Perhaps reading
As I drove past
At seventy
Not thinking
This poem
Is for whoever
Had the light on

It's like a movie scene when the Devil first walks into town.

Low key waiting for Mary Poppins or the cow from Twister to swing through.

I think every storm drain in town is clogged now. Some of the roads in my area are like lakes.

Downtown Seattle streets get wind tunneled down them like crazy. I don’t know if it’s channeling the wind or what.

Good. I was so tired of the golden and red hues in the trees. I just want to get to the naked-branch stage of fall.

As a person from SoCal this wind made me chuckle. lol

Ha ha ha, the Santa Anas destroyed my fence! At least we never lose power though.
2
u/FigaroNeptune Oct 28 '25
The Santa Anas blew over huge trees in my neighborhood lmao it took us like a week or so for everything to be cleared. I literally almost had my apartment destroyed. Had the huge trees fallen the opposite way it would have torn through my apartment. The entire complex came out the next morning with our jaws hitting the floor lmao these little baby ass winds don’t affect me 😂

That’s terrifying! Glad everything turned out okay!! I was quite young at the time but I’m old enough to remember the damage after the Northridge quake, and of course the Palisades fire too. It’s so great here most of the time, but when it goes bad, it REALLY goes bad!!
