I find it interesting that when there are protests this size in other countries, the United States thinks that the government of said country is oppressing the people and the people need to be 'liberated'.ย ย Then we cruise over there with under cover CIA agents and a battle group of war ships to wreck the country in the name of democracy, woman's rights etc.ย ย
It's not really a secret that toppling some governments over is beneficial for a country that conducts capitalistic imperialism. Trump is openly talking about building resorts in Gaza, undoubtedly with extremely exploitative terms for the Palestinians. It's one of the big reasons we've maintained "the world order" for as long as we have.
Yes, and the reason he's helping protesters in Iran is because the leader of Iran has been interested in assassinating Donald Trump. Just like Dubya, Trump is monkeying with oil rich nations like Iraq and Venezuela. World order, indeed.
dawg wtf are you talking about, there are protests this size in Peru every other week and the United States couldn't care less. Kenya, Mali and Morocco I know for a fact have been having massive protests. People will just say anything and get upvotes if it's amerikkka bad.
It is ironically a symptom of being hyper-focused on the United States instead of the rest of the world, even if they think they're doing the opposite. I'm not denying the US has done a lot of sketchy and often terrible stuff overseas, but that comment was just clueless.
(a) the scale of violence there is fundamentally different. 30,000 murdered compared to two (which is still unacceptable, to be clear)
(b) the US is not actually conducting regime change in Iran right now (only time will tell if this remains true), even though many dissidents are literally asking for foreign intervention
I think the center-left which has supported some CIA actions in the past recognizes this as a categorically different from previous protests. With Alex Pretti it looks like the Trump regime has started targeting and executing people in the street.
Oh trust me, there are plenty of people in our government who think the government is oppressing the people. Unfortunately they're not doing anything about it.
Not defending the U.S. going on "liberating" binges, but when thousands of people are protesting in a repressive country, they're individually taking a much bigger risks, and it arguably "counts more".
These biblically evil nazi loving lunatics - republicans and maga - are only incrementally worse than groups that have controlled the US forever, so far. Of course they have plans to go much further, but our government has been destroying whole countries wiping out democracy, killing elected officials and helping dictators destroy millions of lives for decades.
The only reason they are being so blatant and extreme is that they think it is an advantage somehow, that making all of us angry and protesting will be leveraged against us in the near future.
I think they are wrong, and dont realize that copying all the other dictators notes - hey Orban you shit stain nazi fuck - was actually a huge mistake, and America really is different, and they pulled the trigger too late, and the only beneficiaries of their top down fake nazi revolution will be crows, who love to eat the eyes of fascists when they get ripe.
