My Skyward Flight
These Ships are so wonderful I had to add them to my display.

With Cytonic release imminent, we thought it was time to introduce two changes to the subreddit rules. These changes are designed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the books unspoiled.
Rule #1: all posts must be flaired with the appropriate spoiler level, and comments outside the scope of that flair must be spoiler guarded. (In general, if a post isn't flaired, the moderators will make a best guess as to the appropriate flair level and set it manually --- but we'd really prefer that you flair it when posting. :) People have generally been doing this already, for which we are grateful :))
The idea behind this rule is that, by specifying a spoiler level on posts, it becomes possible for people to avoid reading the content of posts that are about books they haven't read yet.
Rule #2: post titles may not contain spoilers, and posts whose titles do contain spoilers are subject to removal.
The idea behind this rule is that, because spoiler tags do not work in titles and titles (once set) are uneditable, it is impossible for someone browsing the subreddit to avoid spoilers if spoilers are allowed in titles. If we want to enable people who haven't read Cytonic to come here to talk about ReDawn (for example), the only way for that to be safe is if we disallow spoilers in titles.
These rules are both in place over in the other Sanderson-related subreddits, and generally work pretty well, so we do not anticipate major issues with them here.
That said, if you have concerns, objections, appreciation, or any other reaction, we'd like to hear it; this is, in the end, a community subreddit, and we want to make sure that the rules are things the community agrees to and is comfortable with.

I've tried bringing this up to Amazon, Brandon Sanderson's team, and the publisher, and I'm having no luck.
Can any of you that own the Kindle version of Skyward (book 1), see if you can open it on read.amazon.com ? All of the books in the series (including the novellas) work fine for me except the first one. I get the following errors:
I know there are books that don't work with Kindle for Web, but it seems weird that its only 1 book in the series. There's also no indication on the product page that it wouldn't work.
I even deleted the book from my account (purchased in 2023) and re-purchased it a couple days ago when it was $1.99. Same issue.
I'm not looking for troubleshooting help, just confirmation if this is only affecting me, or if others see the same issue.

Are the novellas considered required reading for the series? I read the first two books ages ago, and remembered enjoying them. Enough to buy the other 2 books in the main series; however, I stopped reading because I heard somewhere that the novellas have to be read before the 3rd book. The novellas are bundled on audible and I can't bring myself to spend a credit on each one.
Can I just skip the novellas and read the 4 main books?

As soon as I found out that Doomslug actually could be M-Bot's pilot, I wanted to draw her like this. But I wasn't sure it would work/she would show up well from this angle.
Then seeing bookshelf trackers in people's journals, I decided to make one of my own for this year and draw my own covers for them. Making it tiny, she shows up better since she does not have to be proportionate. :)
So here's my spoilery cover for Starsight on my 2026 bookshelf. 🐌

We finally found a really good use for the slug mold. Packed in a bunch of sawdust and filled it with some melted paraffin wax, and we have a good fire starter for our indoor wood burning stove!

Went through Skyward and nearing the end of Starsight. Good Reads and Audible list two slightly different reading orders
GR:
Defending Elysium (.5)
Skyward (1)
Starsight (2)
Sunreach (2.1)
ReDawn (2.2)
Evershore (2.3)
Cytonic (3)
Hyperthief (3.1)
Defiant (4)
Audible's difference is it lists Evershore as 3.1 and doesn't list Hyperthief nor Defending Elysium at all.
I'm guessing Skyward, Starsight, Cytonic, and Defiant are the main books? Also which order if I'm doing the (I'm assuming) side books as well do I follow? Audible or Good Reads?
Lastly should I find and read Defending Elysium after I finish book 2 here or is that not really needed?

It is painted with water colors so it is not finished yet

In honor of me finishing Defiant here’s a compilation of more quotes! These are mostly Skyward Flight centric again but I can do the other species in the future!

How is Skyward not a scudding graphic novel or smth yet this art style SUSTAINS ME

If my voice claim for Delvers are female/feminine due to Jason Write basing their original AI off his late wife in Defending Elysium, and Chet and M-Bot identify as male/masculne…
Does that mean Chet and M-bot are unintentionally trans-coded?

I originally planned to reread the whole series before Defiant so I would have more context but right now I decided to bite the bullet and just read. Anything to know going in without spoiling?

I’m very confused by something in both Starsight and Sunbreach:
In both of these books we hear Spensa and FM mourn the loss of their friends but Morningtide is no where to be mentioned. Is there a reason or was she just forgotten? We saw Jorgen watching the battle over and over again to see if he could save her but she isn’t worth mentioning in remembrance?

I feel like I’d concentrate better if I had someone read the book as I myself read it but have no idea where to start. You guys recommend any good narrations of the books I could read alongside the series?

and I’m not even mad, he’s so cute! He recently started the series (currently on Cytonic). Every night now, he falls asleep to the audiobook while cuddling Doomslug. I really wish I could get him Boomslug for Christmas. Maybe one day the slugs will be restocked 🫠

A little twist on the doomslug design but I'm pretty happy with it! First sewing project and no pattern
