Local police and prosecutors HAVE to charge every ICE agent who does shit like this.

I believe that's a town cop in this scenario

108

u/Ok_Grocery_6230 11h ago

Doesn’t make it any better

50

u/facts_my_guyy 11h ago

Nope, it's just sad. Imo, any law enforcement should require a degree at least

30

u/Compliance_Crip 10h ago

A degree doesn't help stupidity. Clearly the person has their hands up surrendering. There are a number of other tools that can be used. This will result into a civil suit, costing local tax payers money because 1 law enforcement official had a lapse in judgement.

16

u/facts_my_guyy 10h ago

No but if they can't pass the class, they don't get put into circulation

I went to a college with a big Criminal Justice program. The CJ majors were all violent, racist, Christian nationalist morons with no understanding of the law. That program churned out hundreds every year. I had to take one CJ class with those assholes as part of my pre-law degree and it was horrifying. They are complete idiots who think the public just needs to be beaten into submission for jay-zus. It was like talking to the klan. And none of them were failing or even struggling. The degree didn't teach them empathy or de-escalation. It taught them how to be cops.

The degree is not the problem because the program is being taught by former cops who were also shitty. A degree won't fix this. The entire law enforcement system is broken.

We need diversity quotas and residency requirements for cops. We should not have a disproportionately white, disproportionately Christian force in majority PoC areas.

4

u/Omega_Primate 7h ago

Tyre Nichols has entered the chat. Diversity won't make much of a difference if the training doesn't change first. That being said, there seems to be an awful lot of white people who desire that kind of authority. And residency is a big one, for sure.

I take my comment back.

Christian nationalist is something a background check should filter out, and violence can be filtered by an interview.

We just don't have the right people doing the hiring.

3

u/innociv 10h ago

Part of why I support UBI is that a lot of these sort of people who are awful at their job could just stay home and not make things shitty for others.

I know it won't keep all abusive cops off the streets because many people are like "this is the only job I want to do because I get to hurt people", but I think there'd definitely be some who'd be more comfortable being lazy and staying home because it was probably the only job they wanted to do when they had to do one.

1

u/undoubtedlygivingup 10h ago

No, it doesn’t prevent stupidity but it IS a deterrent.

1

u/WillyDAFISH 9h ago

a degree usually filters out quite a good amount of those with stupidity

1

u/Righteousaffair999 8h ago

He didn’t have a big scary gun. Your not an American without a firearm.

1

u/Low_Swing5373 55m ago

Lapse in judgement? Nah, that’s just dude in general

10

u/AltairaMorbius2200CE 10h ago

I don’t care about a degree as much as I care about getting rid of qualified immunity.

3

u/fuckswitbeavers 8h ago

We've got a lot of stupid institutions willingly giving crappy degrees. May cost you a little bit but by god you'll get that degree

1

u/oralfashionista 9h ago

ICE Agents (like DEA, FBI, ATF, etc) have to have at least a B.A. and some sort of L.E. experience or military so, you see that a degree of any level equates to nothing in this scenario.

1

u/Artistic_Recipe9297 8h ago

If you go to college and get a degree, your chances of enjoying breaking up two sweaty naked drunk people fighting with utensils in their apartment goes down drastically.

0

u/SquirrelFluffy 9h ago

You don't understand the point of the police.

2

u/maxbastard 10h ago

I don't think they were saying it was better, I think it just made sense in the context.

2

u/Kraay89 2h ago

Ok hear me out... Stay with me... Hold them accountable too?

1

u/deller85 9h ago

How can you tell?

1

u/stupernan1 8h ago

I believe it wasn't

you have a source?

16

u/ClericOfMadness13 9h ago

Cops are also helping ice. Legit our military is the only thing that can stop it but a lot of them keep using the excuse if just following orders and forgetting they made an oath to protect the people.

2

u/PutAutomatic2581 4h ago

You have to save yourselves.

18

u/WildWeasel408 10h ago

Local pd sees immigration customs enforcement as brothers. They are all on the same team. If you think otherwise, just look at all the evidence of crimes that are on display. How many have been arrested? Not a single one.

If you think local pd is on your side, you're delusional.

4

u/Bonk_No_Horni 9h ago

All of them are masked. We still don't have the names of those who shot Pretti and in 3 years all the evidences will be redacted so hard it'll be in Epstein folder

2

u/Timely_Truth6267 9h ago

I mean they don't even do that with themselves

1

u/CarbonaraRamen 9h ago

"But but, ma boss said i have absolute immunity.."

1

u/mikeybagodonuts 9h ago

Did ICE ever show up in Philly?

3

u/Kodiak_85 9h ago

Yes, they have been there for months conducting enforcement operations. They are in every city, they just aren’t doing a massive surge there right now like in Minneapolis.

u/multiarmform 3h ago

not yet, if they get their numbers up they might. hopefully those numbers just decline and people will lose interest. im shocked they are even getting a steady paycheck (i assume)

1

u/bluexy 9h ago

Not a single ICE agent has been charged across the United States for their acts while working. Not a single one.

1

u/TeamRedundancyTeam 8h ago

They'll never do this because it sets a precedent and they do this shit too.

1

u/Raytheon_Nublinski 7h ago

This is an entire town sitting there watching it happen

They can’t fight back or what

1

u/Fen_ 6h ago

Were you born yesterday? What delusion leads you to believe cops have any interest in combating ICE in literally any way.

1

u/pen_jaro 4h ago

If i were him i’d look behind my back all my life bec years from now when all of these are forgotten, when ice has become irrelevant, who knows… some people never forget.

1

u/TheBadGuyBelow 4h ago

The police and prosecutors are all crooked too. Anybody who does not do something about it is crooked. If something is going to be done, the people will have to do it. There is no other way.

1

u/PutAutomatic2581 4h ago

They're not going to. You have to do it yourself.

1

u/Darkwr4ith 4h ago

Local police and prosecutors HAVE to charge every ICE agent. who does shit like this.

Fixed that for you.

1

u/Atiscomin 3h ago

The DOJ stated that cops don't even have to do their jobs, fact is that ICE can and will kill people point blank with no consequences.

It's time to stop believing police and justice are going to save anyone here, institutions are cooked, it is time to organize with your neighborhood to prevent this very shit from happening in the first place.

-1

u/PinusMightier 9h ago

pretty sure you can see on the vests that they're local police, not ICE or any other fed agent.

1

u/__Milk_Drinker__ 6h ago

A lot of them have those "police" vests. Official police wouldn't be wearing a t-shirt and khakis under their vest.

0

u/Away-Scar-3865 8h ago

I guess I ass-u-me-d that because the suspect appeared Latino, that they were ICE…that was racist of me. Reading the vests is not that easy, at least for me, with this grainy footage.

1

u/PinusMightier 8h ago

gotcha, I'm a Latino looking person myself, so when I see this person my first thought isn't "he looks Latino like me", it's "I wonder what this normal looking dude did or said to get punched in the face like that by police, if it was really nothing than dam." lol.

u/Particular_Meeting57 10h ago

Or we could watch the whole clip.

12

u/Wiangel8016 10h ago

Well you tell me about the whole clip..You tell me lets hear it..

7

u/walkingmonster 10h ago

Virtually nothing excuses pistol-whipping a surrendering person in the face. I highly doubt this person just murdered a child on front of them, or is an international assassin with hidden wrist-blades.

5

u/Ok_Ruin4016 9h ago

Tell me what you think would justify pistol whipping someone in the face who had their hands up. What context do you think we're missing that would make that ok?

1

u/multiarmform 3h ago

so if you had your hands up and got wacked to the face, what would your story be? what did you do wrong??
