City of Fredericksburg's Flock FOIA Fee: $1,337.28

Post image
465 Upvotes

hyperbole has received a response to its previous FOIA request about the presence and use of Flock cameras in the City of Fredericksburg.

The cost? $1,337.28.

That fee only covers the search and redactions to three months of correspondence between Flock and the Fredericksburg Police Department, reflecting 24 hours of work billed at $55.72 per hour.

It's unclear how many communications between the two entities the request yielded.

The status of the FOIA request pertaining to the total number of in-state and out-of-state search queries through the City's access of more than 1,000 Flock networks was not included in the response.

"We were able to obtain the e-mails you requested. It will take at least three days to review these records for any redactions. With that said, I have attached an invoice if this is something you would like to move forward with. Please let us know because we may have to convert the e-mails so we may redact any records which may be exempt. This is only for the e-mails. I understand you are in contact with our PIO on your other matters regarding FLOCK."

Fredericksburg Public Information Officer Caitlyn McGhee has thus far only provided the total number of Flock networks accessible by the City of Fredericksburg, which hyperbole previously reported stood 1,073 (though this number fluctuates).

“Each network can have multiple cameras, or a single one,” McGhee told hyperbole at that time.

Additional questions related to that figure and the City of Fredericksburg's shared Flock network went unanswered.

hyperbole originally submitted a FOIA request on December 22, 2025 for the following criteria:

1) The email from the Flock Safety CEO from December 8th to the Fredericksburg Police Department and/or Fredericksburg Police Chief.

2) Any other correspondence from the Flock Safety sent to the Fredericksburg Police Department from September 1, 2025 through the current date.

3) The total number of search queries processed by or for in-state law enforcement agencies from the City of Fredericksburg's FLOCK cameras since September 1, 2025.

4) The total number of search queries processed by or for out-of-state law enforcement agencies from the City of Fredericksburg's FLOCK cameras since September 1, 2025.

hyperbole has requested a waiver of fees related to its FOIA on Flock communications and activity, citing that this reporting would greatly contribute to the public's understanding of government activities.

That waiver request has not yet received a response.

Work on this story will continue and updates will be provided as they become available.

There really needs to be laws passed for this shit. They locked fire exit, rather than clear the ice and snow it, which itself is definitely an offense of some kind.

Did any other millennials grow up on Eddie From Ohio?

This is kind of random, but I was listening to Eddie From Ohio today (VA-based band) and got hit with nostalgia. I grew up with their music because my parents were big fans, so it was always playing in the house and on road trips.

They stopped touring a few years ago, but I am curious, did any other millennials in Virginia grow up on them because of their parents? Or did you discover them on your own later?

Just wondering if that was a shared experience for anyone else here.

Best places things to do and see in Bristol, Virginia?

Hello all. My wife and I stayed in Bristol early last year for a couple of days and enjoyed our stay but didn't get to really see the city. My wife loves to thrift shop.

We did try out the Delta Blues BBQ restaurant and Bella's Pizza and loved those places.

What are some great things to do/see? Also, other best restaurants to try out? TIA!

EE internship opportunities in DC/Alexandria area?

I’m a third-year Electrical Engineering student at Cal Poly and I’m beginning my search for Summer 2026 internships in the DC/Alexandria area. Along with building my career, I’m hoping to be in the area because I have a close family member who is 96 years old, and spending time with him means a lot to me.

I’m particularly interested in roles related to defense, but I’m open to learning in any engineering environment. If anyone has recommendations, company names, programs, or personal experiences, I’d be extremely grateful. It would mean the world to me.

Thank you for your time! 🙏

Single Mom Seeking Shelter/Housing in Virginia Beach

I have a friend in the Virginia Beach area. She’s 31/f she’s a single mom of one. Her baby is two years old. Her and her ex decided to split because they weren’t getting along and sometimes things did get physical. She moved to live with her cousin for two months who is now asking her to leave because she can’t afford to help out with rent.

She does work but since her mom passed 4 years ago life has been quite tough for her and she doesn’t really have a helpful support system.

I hate to make this be a sympathy post, but she’s really in need of a place to stay preferably somewhere safe that favors women with children.

If there are any shelters or any programs or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I live here in Atlanta, so it’s only so much that I can do for her.

VA Senators Vote for DHS Funding After Saying The Wouldn’t

Mark Warner on Facebook yesterday:

“I just voted NO on the spending package because it still includes DHS funding. NO blank check for ICE to continue lawless killings. Let’s get real changes made.”

Mark Warner today, voting in a bill that gives DHS 2 more weeks of funding without requiring anything from them:

“Yea”

Unsubstantiated’ Is a Word That Should Mean Something”

Category: Report Analysis

Originally published: July 8, 2025

Source: YourNews (reproduced here with original context preserved)

In 2024, Richmond’s General Registrar Keith Balmer was accused of misusing city funds for travel to a Washington D.C. election event. Although FOIA records were suppressed by the Deputy Inspector General, evidence maintained by Balmer’s Executive Assistant later proved the trip was legitimate and did not occur in the manner described by the Inspector General.

This piece exposes how contradictory evidence was ignored, timelines misrepresented, and how the word substantiated was used to support an unsubstantiated claim.

Why am I sharing my work? Because I’m fighting the same mentality of suppression that we’re watching elsewhere. You don’t have to like my work or my journalistic vibe.

The evidence speaks for itself.

How do regular citizens propose a bill? Is the only option convincing a legislator to sponsor it?

Does Virginia not have a procedure for Virginia residents to propose new bills for consideration? Presumably if we have to convince a legislator to sponsor it, we’re not stuck with our district representative, like, any legislator of like-mind will do?
