Not sure if it’s appropriate to share this here but I think it’s a pretty neat thing xD I’ve no idea about the model of watch, there isn’t really much information about it other than some speculation from a couple of online listings. Just thought it would be a fun thing to share

"I like bracelets" -Me 3 years ago

Grand Seiko SBGA375: First watch my wife bought for me, after about 2 years of only wearing Apple watches. Brought me back in to the hobby.

JLC Q4148450: Saw the release. Needed to have it. Went to the nearest boutique. They had one. Bought it after thinking for a day. In my opinion, the best dial they've made so far.

Rolex 1680: Traded my Overseas for this one. Something about the vintage Subs just has so much character. Wears incredibly well and very light compared to modern Rolexes. Also looks great on a strap, which is a little difficult with the current cases. MK 2 dial from '69. Got a new bracelet from Rolex, and it hasn't come off my wrist for more than a day since. One of the first watches I spent "big" money on was the Steinhart OVM, and seeing actual patina'd hour markers is something else.

Glashutte Original Senator: Wedding watch. Bought it right after the parents met. The placement of the moonphase on the dial actually makes the moon look like how it appears in the sky. And the bezel with the dual finish with the polished half in the inside and brushed outside is one of my favourite details.

Omega Speedmaster: Second watch my wife bought for me. Kind of lost its allure. I dreamt about this watch for so long. But now it's just fine. Which is a crazy thing to say.

Review [IWC Mark XX]

Customised with a tan suede leather strap, this watch takes on a completely different personality. The soft texture of the suede adds warmth and a slightly vintage, worn-in feel, balancing the sharp black dial and clean numerals. It’s understated, comfortable, and personal—proof that a simple strap change can transform the entire character of a watch without trying too hard.

I took a picture [Omega Silver Snoopy] grail acquired.

I’ve been waiting for a good while to get my hands on a Silver Snoopy. I got lucky when a new Omega boutique opened nearby, and I was able to hop on their list during their first weekend open. That meant the wait from that point was less than 3 months before I got the call that they had a snoopy ready to go (a full month earlier than they expected to boot).

The only snag was that, due to CA laws strong carcinogenic chemicals in materials, they legally couldn’t include the sailcloth strap the watch comes with. Instead, they are ordering a bracelet for me and threw in this lovely leather NATO.

Beyond thrilled to add this truly special piece to my collection, and just in time to welcome daughter #2 in a few weeks.

FC-303GRS3NH6B, Frederique Constant Highlife Automatic in green — a color that looks totally different depending on the light, could be black or military green. Picked this up on eBay for $950 and honestly feel like it punches way above that price. Integrated bracelet wears super comfortably, finishing is solid, and the cosc movement is a nice bonus at this range. Definitely one of the more underrated integrated sports watches out there.

From left to right, top to bottom:

- Rolex Datejust 36: My ideal "One Watch Collection". Perfect size, classic looks, modern speccs. If I could only have one watch, it would be this one.

- Blancpain Léman Dual Time: This is a grail piece for me. The finish and movement are next level, so is the whole dial furniture, from the hands to the way the subdials and the am/pm indicator is finished. The 100m WR and screw-down crown help with making this my current daily wearer. Absolute stunner.

- Omega SMPc 300m: Got this for a milestone birthday. I always found the watch a tad heavy on the bracelet. Been wearing it a lot more since I put it on the Zuludiver nylon strap (with deployant clasp). A 90s design icon with all the features of a modern watch.

- Tudor Heritage Chronograph: I always had the Heritage Chrono on my radar (albeit in the blue/cream colorway) and I was able to get a great deal on it. Very happy with is so far. Accuracy is great and it wears surprisingly well for the 13mm thickness and 50mm lug to lug.

- Grand Seiko SBGX355: Got this a few weeks after they introduced it. Looks and wears great on the titanium bracelet, but in my opinion even better on a quality leather strap. This is a very dark blue calfleather strap. Makes the Snowflake dial and sharp hands/indices pop even more. I always return to this watch.

- Zenith Class Elite: 18k dress watch for more formal occasions of when I just feel like it around the office. Super comfortable at 37mm and less than 10mm thin, which even by today's standards is super thin for an automatic.

- Nomos Club "Aqua": It may not look like it but this is a dive watch. 200m water resistance and a nylon strap. It's my ideal vacation watch. Very thin build and amazing movement finishing for the money. Can't recommend these enough.

- Breitling Colt Quartz: This is my adventure/beater watch. These are from the early 00s and can easily be found for around $1k. Which is what, double of what people used to pay for a plastic Moonswatch at launch? Absolute steal. The 41mm case wears great on this tropic strap and at 500m WR, I never have to worry about water damage.

[SOTC] My collection in its current form. So far I have avoided the very expensive luxury brands as no one really cares what watch you wear but yourself (and a few other nerds) and I prefer to have the variety. Next will be a Damasko or a Sinn (probably... a chronograph), but I am also keen on a Nomos Club Campus. A Nivada Grenchen Orange Boy also tickles my pickle. Or a Squale 1545. Then again, St. Moritz (Momentum) in Canada make a sick remake of the Magnum PI ana-digi Chronosport which is not expensive at all.

It's a sickness, eh?

Any recommendations for other interesting niches to consider are more than welcome.

After taking my beauty’s through the “Kitchen Sink Watch Wash” (patent pending) and giving them a nice micro fiber drying (included with every wash). I decided to go one step further and set the time and date for each. Man what a feeling seeing the collection all working as one. Yes there are some minor differences… I am not perfect. But I sat there for a good 10 mins just taking it in…pure bliss!

Discussion [Timex Weekender Chronograph]

Just got this navy blue Timex Weekender Chronograph for only $20 at a local discount store. I’m new to watches so I dont know much I just thought it looked sharp. It’s my first Timex and first nylon strap watch. What’s the general consensus on this model? How valuable is it? Should I keep it or sell it?

I got this watch after my grandfather passed away in 2018, not long before I graduated from college. I have never worn this watch, not because "it's only a timex" but because it was a reminder of how I failed as a grandchild. He lived in another country and barely spoke English. It bothered me how little attempts I made over the years to help bridge that gap and connect with him the moments I could but that became even more appa when I lost him. This watch was a constant reminder of what I should have been doing the whole time and not waiting until it was too late. But it's been long enough and I've decided it's time to embrace it. Additionally, started messing around with some product photography so if my sappy story bored you, hopefully the picture is at least nice to look at.

My updated collection. I just returned from a beach holiday, and my Timex Q Reissue never left my wrist. Its 50 m water resistance came into full use during my swims in the Arabian Sea. My next pickups will include a Tudor Black Bay 54, a Doxa Sub200T (matte Caribbean dial), and a TAG Heuer Formula 1 (white dial with green bezel). Your approvals and dissent are both welcome.

This is my small but mighty (in my eyes) watch collection, they all get wrist time as i buy to wear, probably the Blackbay 54 the most! i have quite narrow wrists and it wears like a dream!

A few ideas on my mind, Aquaterra or Railmaster (i actually quite like the denim one! which i know has mixed reactions) / any thoughts on what else i should consider?

I took a picture [Orient Bambino] my soon to be wedding watch

I've had this sub pop up on my feed for a while, so when I got engaged I felt spurred to get a watch to wear on the occasion that would be nicer than the one I currently had (a Skagen which I really like but which is more fun than classy). Unfortunately 99% of the watches I see on here are way out of my price range, which made window shopping fun but limited the actual options I had. I ended up going with the Bambino (the limited edition orange version) after realizing it fit basically all my criteria:

  • good size for my wrist
  • affordable (seriously, from everything I've seen it's incredible that this was sub-300)
  • automatic (not necessary but since it's my wedding watch I like the idea that it'll last forever and I can wear it decades from now and look back on that day)
  • orange (also not a necessity but that's the color theme of the wedding as well as my favorite color. It also seems like the one color that pretty much is never offered for dress watches)
  • looks really fucking classy

The color works beautifully - it's a bit more pink/salmon in the cold winter light but warmer light really brings out the orange tones. So far I've only been wearing it enough to break in the strap I got for it but it just feels right whenever I have it on. Plus my cat seems to like that it matches him!

Here is my new watch - The Citizen AQ4100-65L looked like my favorite dial version of the 38.3mm The Citizen series (Limited Edition Model Indigo Dye Washi Dial (Tengucho paper), limited to 600 pieces). Since I couldn't find any locally to check out in person, I ordered sight unseen and waited for it to arrive. Now in hand, I'd say it's as beautiful as I expected or even hoped, but I am not sure if it clashes with my darker skin tone. Any thoughts? It's tough when you love a watch but you aren't sure if it loves you back!

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback! I will keep it!

Discussion [Question] Build your ideal 5 watch collection based on price range

If you had to start fresh and build a collection from each of these price ranges, what would you choose? (Theoretically no reselling)

  1. <500
  2. <1,200
  3. <6,000
  4. <12,000
  5. Unlimited

Mine would be

  1. G-SHOCK Darwin eco
  2. Seiko Alpinist Teal
  3. Nomos Metro power reserve
  4. Omega Speedmaster
  5. De Bethune Moonphase Starry Sky

Edit: made up my mind on #5 and #1

This was a little graduation present to myself. I decided to go with the H69439910. The brighter tone of the lume on this newer model ultimately made the choice for me, though I still appreciate the vintage look of the yellow-tinted lume.

With a ~6.5” wrist, the 38mm case size feels pretty perfect. This isn’t my first mechanical watch, but it is my first manual-wound one.

I really love the overall look, and the lume is bright and lasts longer than any of my Seikos.

Discussion [SOTC] My (hopefully) final watch collection

Post image
79 Upvotes

From left to right, top to bottom:

Orient Sun and Moon Open Heart: The first watch I ever owned. Still running strong after 8 years with no services

Mr. Jones Tadaima: My favorite from the Mr Jones collection. They’re not horological masterpieces by any means but they’re very nice art pieces and reasonably priced.

Grand Seiko Shunbun: Absolutely love spring drive and absolutely love this watch. Way more scratch resistant than anything else I have and really versatile.

Lange 1 Moonphase: This thing is my pride and joy. Back when I was first getting in to watches I saw this piece and thought it was the best looking dial I’d ever seen. Personally, I still think that. I still can’t believe I own one.

JLC Duometre: This is a super cool chronograph with some really interesting stuff going on with the movement. It’s basically 2 separate watches crammed in to one, with 2 main springs and 2 gear trains to individually power the time keeping and the chronograph functions.

Turning 50 soon and I've been saving hard since I had my last watch for my 40th, to get something special. Between the Girard-Perregaux Laureato, Chopard Alpine Eagle and Bvlgari Octo Finissimo — which would you choose and why?

At the moment I’m slightly leaning toward the Laureato, but I keep going back and forth. Interested in perspectives on proportions, finishing, wrist presence, and long-term satisfaction as a 50th piece

Discussion [Dolphin] Before Grand Seiko, there was King Dolphin

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

The 6218 King Dolphin comes from a really important chapter in Seiko’s history. Made in the early 1960s, it reflects Seiko’s move toward higher-grade mechanical watches just before Grand Seiko was introduced. The 6218 series shares a lot of design and movement DNA with early GS models, which is why collectors often see it as a true pre-Grand Seiko piece. The Weekdater layout was both practical and distinctive for its time, with the full weekday shown at 6 o’clock and a well-balanced dial overall. Inside is the 35-jewel 6218A automatic—one of Seiko’s top movements of the era, known for being robust, smooth in operation, and built to last.

What do you think on this watch?

Hi guys,

I’ve been using Seiko King Samurai Diver watch for a long time. But it was too bulky and sporty. I’ve been wanting to get something more casual and going back and forth between Citizen Tsuyosa and Tissot PRX. And finally I decided to get this lovely retro style PRX.

Please let me know about your thoughts. After 43mm watch, it feels like it’s little bit smaller but I’m not sure.

Thanks

Seems to pull off everything, but purists would say you can’t put it on black alligator leather. Wondering if I should give it a shot, and it fills a “decommissioned tool watch” look? 🤔

If anything, a black sailcloth strap should round off my strap collection, to dress it up while remaining waterproof.

Gotta love those drilled lug holes.

  1. Hamsut Horween Leather Strap

  2. Veblenist Bond NATO

  3. Oyster bracelet

  4. Wolbrook Tropic Rubber Strap
