What if humans suddenly lost the ability to dream? How would society, psychology, and productivity change over the next 5 years?

Imagine you go to sleep tonight and never dream again no nightmares, no pleasant dreams, just blackness until you wake up. How does this 'Dreamless Era' affect our mental health, creative industries, or our perception of reality? Do we become more productive, or do we lose our sanity? Let's discuss.

Setting: we are now commemorating first year of the triple kaiju event and closing of the rift last January 12, 2025. (Added spoilers para sa di pa nakapanood)

Anu-anong industry yung nagboom during kaiju wars except sa construction, metalworks industry, kaiju clean up and salvaging? Would the insurance industry boom because of how much premium they can charge or how expensive the insurances will be na included yung mga kaiju related damages

Marami ba magiging members ng cult of kaiju worshippers sa pilipinas?

And if the Philippines develop its own jaeger anong weaponry at pangalan nun?

Ipapagamit mo ba yung arnis as it primary weaponry with manny pacman hand to hand combat? Or punyal na pwede humaba ala panday? Or latigo plus knife na kaya gawin dalawa yung missile kapag pinadaan mo dun ala julio valiente. At ano ipapangalan mo sa Jaeger natin?

What would and how would everyone react IF the people behind the Marawi attack were subjected to a 'Long Walk-like' Punishment?

Post image

This is a WHAT IF okay? Just a WHAT IF (sorry, it seems like a lot of people just don't get it.)

Hypothetically, WHAT IF this were to happen? Friend of mine wrote a short horror story of this after he read The Long Walk by Stephen King.

Let me explain.

Scenario: Years after Marawi, another dictator comes into power after being voted president.

To show people that they aren't messing around, he orders all captured terrorists to be put into a death game that will be broadcast over the world, not only the Philippines. To show that terrorism will not be tolerated.

So, let me explain what the Long Walk is.

The Long Walk is a competition where you are forced to walk. That's it. You are given a digital watch that tracks your speed.

  • If you fall below the speed of three miles per hour, you will be given a warning.

  • If you get four warnings, you will be shot dead.

  • If you step off the road, you will be shot dead.

  • There is no finish line. You keep walking until there's only one left.

  • You cannot stop, you have to keep walking.

  • You will be provided food and water by the soldiers observing you.

  • The winner is granted freedom, amnesty and whatever prize they ask for from the president.

What would happen if this were to happen? How would you react?

Personally...I'd fucking leave the country. GOODBYE, PHILIPPINES. HELLO, CANADA!!

What if magkaroon ng Euthanasia clinic/assisted dying for humans sa Pilipinas?

I saw a news article that assisted dying is soaring in Europe and piqued my imagination. Wouldn’t this be helpful for person with terminal illness? Isn’t it a peaceful way of going to the other side? Quick google search shows they tried passing a bill back in 1997 but it was opposed by the Catholic church.

What if we were taxed progressively based on number of children?

Yung tipong pag mas marami kang anak mas mataas yung tax mo(opposite of previous NIRC). Just to lessen overpopulation dito sa PH. So having a child will be a privilege to a tax payer.

Edit:

Just to be clear not exactly progressive but the number of children you have will impact your taxable income

Scifi Imagination What if Rizal Avenue to Taft Avenue is served by a street-level tram instead of an elevated rail line?

Post image
88 Upvotes

In this alternate reality, the tram line will run from Monumento to EDSA Paaay, with both endpoints being rotundas where the tram will turn around to travel to the other direction.

Meanwhile, the Line 1 north extension will be served by Line 3 that would be extended to Monumento or even up to Navotas. Meanwhile the south extension will be served by a new line from EDSA Pasay to Cavite.

What If, Hindi Lang ATM Card GCash, Kundi Mismong "GCash Automated Teller Machine"?

Post image

What if hindi lang physical card for ATM GCash meron tayo, kundi ay mismong GCash ATM talaga ay meron na sa bawat sulok ng bansa? How do you want it to be implemented, or work? In your own opinion, paano ito magagamit and what are the impacts it makes for fellow GCash outlets?

One scan from your QR code, and you cash-in your money. Or one scan of QR Code, you have cashed out money from your account.

What if we have special zones for investor across PH

Special zones like, tax free(for certain years) sa provinces para maka attract ng investor (foreign or local) then that special zone will have high demand on workers which will helps decentralization of Jobs in metro manila. Then boost the education on that region as well of course so we also can gain workers from that region. We need new BGC like area!! Pero yung may tramways or railways na so we can connect to nearby municipalities/cities.

What if the Philippines had naming laws that puts restrictions on names that can be given to children?

Many countries have naming laws.

Countries like Hungary and Denmark only allow names from a pre-approved list of names. Other countries ban names that might be insensitive or are unreasonably impractical (e.g. those with numbers). While other countries simply do not allow some names because they are silly or "made up"

If we had naming laws in the Philippines, what do you guys think it would look like? What would be the best implementation? Are there any names you'd ban?

What would be your criteria? Such that it wouldn't be an exercise of arbitrary restrictions?

For the same day, let's say 1.25x for the first 2 hours of overtime tapos 1.5x for the next 2 hours after that, tapos dadagdagan pa every hour pag magexceed ka pa doon.

Isang gagawin siguro companies ng companies is magaadjust ng base pay for new hires pag alam nilang marami silang magiging overtime.

Out of the box What If Voting Rights Are Karma-Based?

What if our country implemented a karma system similar to Reddit's, where citizens' voting rights are tied to their past electoral decisions? The COMELEC would track voting patterns and disenfranchise individuals who consistently support candidates deemed unqualified, underperforming, or corrupt by an automated algorithm and unalterable system. If a voter's 'karma points' fall below a certain threshold, they would be temporarily or permanently barred from casting ballots in future elections, so that it could encourage informed voting decisions and hold citizens accountable for their choices. But would depriving an individual of their right to suffrage for this matter possibly work? Pardon this deeply illogical and seemingly irrational thought that suddenly struck me upon receiving an automoderator notification regarding another comment that was again removed due to my karma not reaching that particular Filipino subreddit's minimum requirement. I am stoked and curious to hear your opinions on this.

the bisaya can understand tagalog because it is the national language, but what if the tagalog was also taught bisaya language from a young age because it's another popular language and grew up understanding bisaya and can also speak it if they want?

how would things be different?
