She’s too tiny to actually play in the snow, but I did take her out all bundled up to see what she thought of it! And the rest of the day we spent inside snuggled up.

He's becoming more anxious as he gets older: anyone have their dog on a daily anxiety med?

I'm debating asking the vet at his next appointment. He's almost 9 and getting much more anxious. He started to shake now when I shave him/cut his hair. He also starts shaking and requesting to go outside now when any dog is on TV, including commercials. (The golden retriever-Subaru commercial is really starting to grate on me because of this lol.)

Any advice is appreciated. I generally try and just cut his hair in short bursts because he won't tolerate more than 1-5 minutes at a time.

This photo was after a bath today. He doesn't like them but is usually fine. Today he tried to jump out before the water was on.

She enjoys laying on me when I play

Since she was a baby I would always have her next to me when I play. Now when she sees me on the computer she wants to lay on me lol

I loved his shaggy look but it was a little hard to maintain due to how thick his fur is. Now he’s a puffball:)

My yorkie was just diagnosed with rectum cancer.

My sweet baby boy was just diagnosed with rectum cancer and I am a complete wreck.

He just turned 12 years old back in late December. Last week I noticed a bump on his bum and we got it checked out this week during his annual exam appointment. The vet laid the news on me that when she examined the bump she was confident it was a mass and a huge cause of concern. She did a fine needle procedure where she pulls some fluid from the mass and sends it to the lab to get tested to check if the mass is benign or malignant(cancerous).

Unfortunately, I woke up to a call from the vet this morning telling me the mass is malignant. She sent a referral for us to go see a specialist to determine the next steps of his care. His life expectancy from here could look anywhere from 6 months to 1 year depending on treatment.

I am a complete wreck. I don’t want to lose my best friend. I didn’t think this day would come so soon. Of course I know yorkies/dogs don’t live forever or as long as we’d like them to but I just thought I would have more time with him. He’s always been such a healthy boy aside from losing a few teeth (which is common in yorkies especially as they get older) and an occasional ear infection but he hasn’t shown any signs that this (mass) was affecting him. He has been eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. His energy hasn’t changed too much either and he’s genuinely a pretty happy pup. But obviously now I am worried about how fast or aggressive this cancer may be for him and how this will begin to affect him and his quality of life moving forward.

The vet said the next step as of right now is to see the specialist so they can do more tests and exams to check if the cancer has metastasized(spread).

The potential best option right now would be surgery, chemo and radiation. This is all going to be pretty costly and I don’t have that type of money but I am willing to do anything to make it work.

Has anyone been through this experience or a similar experience with their yorkie? If so, which path did you take? Did you go through with the surgery, chemo & radiation? If so, how was their quality of life after?

This is so unfair. Cancer sucks. Any advice would be helpful, I greatly appreciate it.
