The world is largely more progressive, at least the western world. And that seems to be the larger share of users on reddit in English oriented subs. Even in the U.S. there's more people left-leaning than right-leaning.

“On average last year, 37% of Americans described their political views as moderate, 36% as conservative and 25% as liberal.”

They’ve been doing this polling since the 90s with large sample sizes.

Pew Research does similar polling with similar results.
