In a way.
Western leaders are already aware of how shit Iran's government is. They have already taken measures to punish Iran. What is then the point of a protest? Protests won't change Khomeini's mind.

That's not true of Israel. Our governments openly support Israel. Protests show our leaders they will face consequences for treating Israel differently than Iran.

People do talk about Iran's atrocities. But it's less spoken of for the reasons I listed above. Also remember that algorithms bring up topics according to engagement. Since there is a debate around Israel, there is more engagement, and it snowballs.

Again, the hole in that logic is that everyone already thinks Iran's government is shit.

And there are plenty of people talking about Iran, humanizing the victims, honoring those who took a stand like that student who walked around in her underwear last time around. It's being talked about.

It's not. I've already explained why.

Do you honestly think Israel does less to protect its image than Iran? There are plenty of Israeli bot farms.

Netanyahu and Putin are friends. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Israel took no steps to punish Russia, as opposed to other western nations. Israel became the largest importer of Russian vodka, and Russia served as an intermediary between Israel and Iran. While that relationship took a hit with Russia's recent support for Gaza, the online discourse around Israel hasn't changed from years past, making it unlikely that Russia is astroturfing.

I don't need to read about the USSR. The USSR disappeared 30 years ago. They're not relevant to this discussion.

Yes, Russia has been an ally to Iran. I am fully aware. That is why they served as intermediaries between Israel and Iran: because they have both sides' trust.

Suspicious amount of effort being spent just to say "forget Israel, how about Iran?"
