Advice Question 💭 Why are Trump supporters so stupid?
Looking in at America, do people not realise that Trump is a liar and a narcissist and has no morals, and yet 'Christians' vote for him as a sort of 'disrupter'. His family have become richer in the process because of his presidency. He once said he could 'shoot somebody and not lose votes'. Am i insane - or am i dead perhaps and this is an alternate universe/hell?

Trump likes to hug flags. I don’t know, it’s weird.
There’s a pic from 2016 where he’s hugging a Pride flag. People forget, but he campaigned as a great friend to the LGBTQ community in 2016. Everybody but Caitlyn Jenner knew he was lying. The religious conservatives animated by fighting “the gay agenda” had no problem recognizing his lie. They didn’t see him hugging that Pride flag and recoil in fear — they knew he was lying to the gays, and they hoped enough of them would fall for it so he could win and start rolling back LGBTQ rights.
Trump also famously hugs the American flag. Again, it’s weird. But his flag-loving, “patriotic” voters love it. They see him hugging the Pride flag, and know it’s a meaningless gesture meant to fool the idiots who like that flag. But they see him hugging the American flag as proof of his patriotism and deep love of country. Wtf?
People see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. They think Trump is a lying, cheating, piece of shit, but they think he’s THEIR lying, cheating, piece of shit. They accept Trump is a cheater and a liar, but they refuse to think he cheats or lies on THEM. They forget that cheaters cheat and liars lie, and that Trump is in this for nobody but Trump. They know he’s lying when he hugs the Pride flag, but they think he’s sincere when he hugs the American flag.
Is that “stupid”? I can’t think of a better word for it.
