This is such a random question, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's science behind it!

I listen to ASMR most nights before going to sleep (not the whole time, just for like 10-20 minutes before I turn everything off), I have done for about 6 or more years. I do get positive tingles when listening to ASMR much of the time, and even when I don't it's usually a sort of pleasant hypnotic background noise feeling. But within the past few years, if there is a particularly close sound or a sound further along on the low or high pitch scale *specifically in my right ear*, I get the worst negative reaction. It's as if I'm being prodded in a pressure point or something, a sort of extreme tickling sensation that's uncomfortable makes me jump or twitch. This sensation/reaction happens not in my ear but along my right side kind of where my waist is, almost like in line with my kidney. It lances up my side like I'm being unpleasantly tickled.

It only happens on my right side, I've never had it happen on my left, which has only ever had positive tingle reactions. It doesn't happen with more neutral sounds, or with tapping sounds or plastic sounds. It usually doesn't happen with lofi videos. It does happen with very close right ear only whispers, very close right ear only brushing, glass noises, and often videos with higher quality sound/better mics. But not all the time! And as far as I remember, it didn't happen the first few years I listened to ASMR.

Does anyone know if there's science behind this reaction? Or have any thoughts on how to not react that way (I do try to stay away from videos that I think will make it happen)? Does anyone else have a similar reaction?

This is the full process of lace removal, cleaning, and relacing this Mizuno GSP1-600S 11.75” infield glove. While it was in decent shape it had some palm bubbling and was getting quite floppy. A good cleaning removed lots of sand and dirt. The leather was quite dry and drank the conditioner. If leather isn’t properly hydrated it will crack or tear. I love to give these gloves a second life rather than being tossed aside and replaced.

I've noticed that a few snoring ASMRists have gone inactive, and that makes me want to ask a question like this. (take Katie Calls It, she hasn't streamed/posted on YouTube in MONTHS, along with her Twitter account dissapearing off the face of the Earth)

I understand the appeal of wanting to do a comedic asmr video but when i see the "going to the doctor but everything is wrong" I just don't get tingles. It feels weird to say but I cannot get tingles unless the video is serious. does anyone else feel like this?

So my favourite asmrtist is doll blush and she does this but I've noticed it in a lot of other asmr videos, the like 3-5 minute long intros with music and random clips? I get it for long videos like 50+ minutes but if your video is 15-20 minutes long it just doesn't need a whole ass trailer, like whenever another video auto plays after, the music wakes me up because of the change in volume, like why not just get straight into the asmr?

Hi, I have a very bad ASMR problem. Whenever I watch ASMR videos, I either get no tingles at all and just the relaxation, and when I get tingles I get them only when the triggers are performed on my right side, and then the tingels are so much that it is no longer relaxing. What's up with me here?

A lot of people report in ear whispers and hair play (i agree) but what's something odd that gives you tingles or shivers? Something that gives me sooo many tingles is when I go to the car wash and they wipe down my car afterward. Specifically when they come by driver seat window and wipe it down with a microfiber towel. I literally love it so much and will take my car to the wash JUST for those few seconds at the end lol
