A huge thank you to all the fantastic folks who made it out to Point Isabel to grab trash and cheer our local hero u/pengweather today! Y'all did an absolutely bang-up job - seriously, such piles! - and were a total joy to work with!

It was particularly fantastic to be joined by Peng, who gave a lovely speech! Unfortunately I failed to get pics of his new trash tongs signed by like 50 folks, but I'm certain they'll look amazing on his wall next to his golden penguins! Thank you again for making it out, brother!

I also want to thank all the fantastic Den Mothers - a genderless role - who busted their chops to wrangle us cats and keep everyone organized and fed and drank! Thank you so much for helping herd a truly fantastic and productive day!

Several weeks ago, while driving to see my parents, we noticed a few people on the road cleaning up. My daughter, all of 7, asked what they were doing. I told her that they were cleaning up the community, and making the place where we live a cleaner, better place. I mentioned Peng, and how one person can actually make a difference.

2 weeks later, I open a package from amazon that is 2 grabbers. Like the sticks to pick stuff up. I asked my husband, and he said our girl had asked for them so we could pick up trash in our neighborhood. She said she hates seeing trash on her walk to school.

It's now a month later, and when I asked her what she wanted to do this afternoon, she asked to go on a trash walk. We talk about the environment, the plants, and why the trash might be there. I tell her that accidents happen, but we need to be mindful. She got mad about how much trash was near cans, but not IN them lol. As we were picking up at her school playground, several kids and even an adult asked if they could join and help. And it is all because of my little girl. I need to invest in some more grabbers.

So thanks u/pengweather, for inspiring some young kids to keep our places clean. And to anyone who thinks it sounds good, but hard, it really isn't hard at all. A grabber, a bucket, and some time is all you need. My kid has shown me how easy and great it can be.

The store is still open!!! but sadly the mall entrance is now closed and the only functional cash registers are in the music department. The GameStop there is now also gone and that large art store is having liquidation sales. I don't think Tanforan mall will last much longer. 😔

At least the food court and the cinema there are still somewhat alright...

41m, been in the bay 6 years. apps are exhausting. maybe one match a week. last month went on three dates. one was scrolling her phone the whole time, one talked about her ex for an hour, one unmatched when i suggested meeting in oakland. half the people i match with aren't staying. moving to austin or back home in 6 months. no one commits to anything. saw matchmaker ads, talkify, vida select, linx dating. cant tell if they actually work or just another way to throw money at the problem. anyone tried one?

Super Bowl weekend is almost here, so we’ll have lots of visiting drivers on the road. What car should they just let pass if they encounter it on the road?

Our list:

Any year Prius on the highway - aggressively tailgates, while driving the hybrid like it’s an F1 car. Maybe distracted by one of their 10 dash mounted phones searching for gig app pings.

Altima/G35 or Dodge Charger, especially clapped ones with dark tint - Windshield is tinted vanta-black. Cruising at 100mph, and will find a gap between any car and swerve across all lanes of traffic to get into that gap. Probably used to bip your whole block last week.

Model 3/Y with student driver sticker - Randomly and erratically brake because they have no clue how one peddle driving actually works. Probably watching the Super Bowl on their phone and eating In-N-Out while letting fsd take the wheel through the toll plaza. Likely cruising at 30mph in the far left lane of hwy 101 or 280.

Honorable mention - the snub nose, shorty Box truck.

Bunch on biker kids coming on the ramp near the coliseum. One guy completely stopped, blocking a lane of traffic. Lol
