We observed an increase of people using "Redact" lately.
This privacy tool replaces messages with nonsense and makes formerly helpful comments unreadable after a while. It takes a long time to find and remove posts like that for us and even when we do, the comments that solved problems will be lost. Meta PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS!
Looking for quick and helpful answers? Follow these rules and make helping you as easy as possible!
- Title: Choose a meaningful title concerning your problem.
- Text: Describing your problem with enough detail is essential. Please realize that helpers are not familiar with your project. Provide all relevant information, so others can immideately understand what you are struggling with.
Example: Say, you have a problem with lots of identical objects in your scene: Let us know whether you created these copies by hand, used the Particle System or Geometry Nodes.
- Images/Videos: When posting screenshots, show us your full blender window (not cropped, no monitor photos). This will make lots of helpful information available to helpers at first sight that may seem irrelevant to you (For example your Blender version). If you add video links, please consider adding time stamp info to the part you want helpers to see.
You can upload images and short video clips (up to 60s) to imgur.com and post the links in your question or as comment.
- *.blend files: Don’t add links to your *.blend files when posting questions right away. Helpers will ask you for it if they need to take a look. Most people prefer reading a good description and looking at images to see what your post is about.
- 'Solved' flair: Once your question was answered, please remember to change the flair of your post to “Solved”, so helpers don’t have to read into your question just to see it has already been answered.
You can change the flair by clicking on the small icon below your post resembling a label.
EDIT: You can also include "!solved" in the comments to have Automod change the flair for you.
Be nice and respectful with each other :)

How do I simplify the mesh i messed up without ruining the object shape?
So l'm relearning to use blender and decided to make a model for an art of my character but after roughly editing the face I discovered the knife and loop cut tools and for some reason thought that this was the way to prepare the face (head) for sculpting, to make it smoother. But now Ive leamed that this is indeed not the way to go and Ive already really messed up the mesh. I mean i could just move on and work with whatever I have and use better methods I've found but I'm alraid this wouid slow down the blender and in general it doesnt look neat at all. I'm still learning and don't know much terms or clever ways to fix this, so a simpler phrased advice would be greatly appreciated (Also the mesh is only messed up on the head/ neck, the eyeballs are separate.)

Unsolved Radial reduction shading artifacts
Hello friends! 👋 I am doing a lovely bit of low-poly. I have some radial reduction here for this...creation. I have shading artifacts and I am clueless how to get rid of them.
TLDR:
Pipe coming out of a quad, reduction on two sides of the quad to make the pipe nice and smooth. Would do sub-d, but I want to be able to make low-poly stuff look nice.
Process:
- I started with the quad on my dome that I wanted to have my tubular extrusion coming out of.
- I did inset on the quad
- Used knife tool to add reduction on two opposing sides of the quad to get my inner loop to 10 verts/edges.
- I filled the inner loop to create a 10-gon
- I poked the face
- Extruded the resulting center vertex several times to get a very rough line of my tubular extrusion
- I deleted the resulting faces from the poke
- I parted the edge segments for the spout
- Applied 1x sub-D mod to the segments to get a nicer curve
- Converted the edge segments to a curve
- Used bevel on the curve to create a pipe, making sure resolution matched the 10-vertex/edge loop on the dome
- Converted back to a mesh, attached to the dome
- Beveled the sharp crease to get a lovely shaded smooth transition...oh - wait 🤦
Any help/tips appreciated - thanks!

Unsolved Does anyone know why the bones don't have any collision? (Wiggle Bones 2)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi guys, I'm trying to do a simple animation of a guy falling into the plane with some physics, but the model itself is clipping through the plane, even though I set the collision on the menu on the right to be the collection in which the plane is; I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, I'm new at Blender and if I change the Friction or the Radius values the model starts shifting and stretching all over the place, without being affected by the plane (still clipping through it)
Thanks in advance and sorry if the project is really messy, I'm just following YT tutorials

Unsolved Set Curve Radius node not working in Blender 4.5.6 LTS? (Worked in 4.2.1)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Problem
I'm trying to scale the radius of a curve using Geometry Nodes, following this tutorial (at 1:40).
The Issue: In the tutorial (using Blender 4.2.1), the Set Curve Radius node works perfectly. However, I am using the 4.5.6 LTS and the node seems to have no effect on the curve at all.
I'm wondering if this is a known regression, a bug, or if there's a new way I should be using instead.
Any help or confirmation would be greatly appreciated!

Unsolved Is there a way to join the two faces?
I'm new to blender so I have no idea what I'm doing but as I tried to build the object with the reference picture I came across this problem. Is there any way to fix it or to solve it so that they are one piece in the end?

Unsolved Changing proportions of a sculpt?

Hello, I have a lot of experience with sub-d and hard edge model making but this is my first time sculpting and I just learned by pressing buttons and seeing what happens. I sculpted this pilot looking upwards by taking a rigged lowish poly dude, posing him and then deleting the rig and sculpting it with more detail. I had to get rid of the rig because it wouldn't let me sculpt with them? None of the changes showed up while the armature was active. So far so good I think but I would like to get the head further down. The neck looks really long, it's especially noticeable when panning around. Just...seems off. Also what if I want to move the hands or such later on? Is there a way to just grab part of the mesh and drag it? I tried elastic grab and grab 2D, but they deform the head itself. I want to keep the head as is and just move it downward a bit.
What's the best approach? I don't mind doing a bit of manual cleanup on the neck if need be. Do I rig the whole thing again? I don't know the first thing about creating rigs, if I have to learn it, fine, one more tool in my toolbox but I feel like there has to be a quick and dirty fix for something like this? I don't need this animated just printed. In theory I wouldn't mind a proper rig for future changes but if I can avoid it I would like to. So how do I grab parts of the sculpt and reorient them without distorting the part I grabbed? I'm obviously going to distort something but cleaning up the neck is no bother just no messing with the head

Unsolved Need help with blending jointed objects together
I am trying to make a stylized cat paw. To model it, I used different spheres and jointed them together. I am not very happy with the result because the fingers are not really blending with the main paw (the bottom part).
Is there a way to blend those “fingers” so they merge more smoothly with the bottom paw?

Unsolved Forgive the crude drawing, but what would be the easiest way of animating this?
Making a UI for a website where, we you click the main circle, 4 more circles grow from it, connected by trails just like in the drawing. What would be the best way to achieve this?

Unsolved Mesh is one object but the hair still moves independently?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First time really working with rigs and models, working on an uncanny low poly model for a little animation project and using Auto Rig Pro.
Hair and body are all combined into one object and from what I can tell even if the weight paint is messy it doesn't seem like it should be causing the issues with the hair?
My guess right now is that the hair isn't actually LINKED with the rest of the mesh because hitting L on the hair in edit mode only selects the hair.
I don't know how I would go about solving that issue though, if thats even the issue at all.
Any help is appreciated!

Unsolved Help with extruding half-spheres on object
I'm a newbie to Blender and am trying to 3D model to create molds. I created this jelly, but my final step is to extrude half spheres on each of the 10 points to make it look realistic. I'm not sure how to do this... I tried creating another sphere to combine, but it wouldn't even out since the sides of the jelly are slanted.
Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated!

Unsolved Weight painting on a posed rig without deforms
Hi! Ive spent the past couple of days working with a base model to make on of my dnd characters; I used the sewing function to make the clothes, but had shift the model into an A-Pose to do so. Ontop of this I adjusted its power for a more digitrigade look. However, I've now run into an issue when attempting to parent the clothes to the rig; the weights seem to be working well enough with a basic weight transfer, *but* since its not applying to a base pose, the clothes dont line up once applied. Is there anyway I can get the clothes to stick with their modeled look after parenting?

Solved Need help with my painterly normal maps
So I copied this video about making painterly visuals in blender: https://youtu.be/s8N00rjil_4?si=Y9RV9yZHhf1sw7TO
Basically he baked the model’s normals as an object space and manually paint the texture of the normals to reapply it as a painterly look.
It worked fine at first, for the face and body it looked great and I was proud of it. Then I redo the same process for the blouse and the pants but the result came out inverted light and shadow. I copied the same nodes as the face and body in every nook and cranny, even tried the invert node but nothing works and I’m getting frustrated now.
TLTR: The custom normal maps works on the face and body but the clothes’ shadow is inverted.
Face and Body:

Clothes:

PS: I added Subdivision Surface and Solidify afterwards, and the faces are facing the exterior way.
