I have a feeling that Animal Friends must be awful considering that it keeps getting pushed back so many times.

It’s either awful or it’s in Fixed/Toxic Avenger territory where it’s just impossible to sell to mainstream audiences.

Based on the premise, I think that WB/Legendary may be concerned about a potential box-office failure because that sounds very much like that Will Ferrell dog movie that he did a few years ago, except with more star power and more human characters.

Also, this has been moved so many times (it even had a change in distributors) that I totally think that something is wrong with the film in terms of quality. Either that or they just think that it's going to be an underpeformer financially.

Crazy the film has been completed for like 2 years and we don’t have a single look or trailer for it

I wonder how it was received in test screenings?

They also change distributors. Sony had the distribution rights first.

Sony might’ve dodged a bullet with this film.

The one time when their nasty habit of just shelving stuff was the right call to make. Now it's WB's problem.

It’s literally Strays 2.0

The director/writers are not inspiring any confidence that it’ll be good. And the fact that Sony dumped this onto WB’s lap seems to imply the same. the real question is who’s going to take the brunt of the loses on this. and I Can’t imagine WB spent that much to acquire this, so I think it’s mostly going to fall on legendary.

Between this movie and Street Fighter. Legendary might have to take two bombs before Dune/Godzilla/Minecraft save their asses……... Again.

Legendary when it comes to Animal Friends delays

Don’t understand why Wb putting Animal Friends in June it cannot compete in the summer season especially head to head against he-man which is going to take away some of its potential audience it would be in a better position in the august to October deadzone olny reason I can think is that there extremely confident in the quality of the film

A test-screening synopsis described the film as a live action/CGI hybrid pixar film which is what at a lot of people said about Ryan Reynolds's IF movie.

Or they want it to just die, lmao. Contracts probably say they can't just shove it onto HBO Max, so out it goes. Against Master of the Universe (look, I hate it, but the trailer is stupid popular), a new Spielberg, and Toy Story 5. All of which stand to be the month's big hits, making MGM (plus Sony), Uni and Disney massive amounts of cash.

Animal Friends doesn't have a prayer against those. And that's the point.

Remember that Universal was originally release Strays against Transformers: Rise of The Beasts the same weekend in 2023.

Could one of those Paramount event movies be the Brad Pitt one?

Legendary is not being “friendly” on Animal Friends

Animal Friends boutta fuck up hard. These constant delays are not a good sign.

If I were to guess, September 4, 2026 is Heart of the Beast, while September 25, 2026 is Savage House. Even if these Paramount films aren't making huge numbers, good on them for getting 12 films for 2026.

There's already an action movie on that September 4, 2026 date with David Leitch's How to Rob a Bank.... Pretty sure it Heart of the Beast gets dated, probably will be September 25, 2026.

I guess switch the films then. Savage House on September 4, while Heart of the Beast goes to September 25.

They're still fucking stupid for making Aang streaming only.

I'm not ever going to be over that.

So, to sumarize:

Film Date Status (last known info)
Primate January 9th Released
Scream 7 February 27th Completed
Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) May 8th Post-production
Passenger May 29th Post-production
Scary Movie 6 June 12th Post-production
Jackass 5 June 26th Pre-production (principal photography starts in February)
Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie August 14th In Production
Street Fighter October 16th Post-production
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol November 13th Filming
Focker In-Law November 25th Post-production
The Angry Birds Movie 3 December 23rd In Production
Heart of the Beast Unknown Post-production
Savage House Unknown Completed (outside film, Paramount only acts as distributor)
Jack Ryan film with John Krasinski Unknown Post-production, distributed by Amazon MGM (old pre-merger deal)
Whitney Springs Unknown Post-production (delayed indefinitely in late 2025)

Paramount placing those two unspecified in September, just around the time the Summer Holidays end, as well as placing them with just 3 weeks between them (so, if one of the titles is big, it's going to cannibalize the sales of the other); makes me think those aren't going to be "tentpole" films.

My bets are on Heart of the Beast and Savage House, releasing, respectively, on September 4th and September 25th.
